You are correct, the correct title for this topic if anything should be Vario gave up Tommy DeSimone because he raped Karen Hill. Vario and the Lucheses didn't kill DeSimone, the Gambinos, most likely Tommy Agro, killed DeSimone because he killed Batts. DeSimone was an earner but he was also a cowboy, as Paul Sorvino said in the movie. Once he outlived his usefullness he was expendable, no different than DeMeo or Sam DeSefano in Chicago, eventually lunatics get too hot. Once Vario got tired of the Fatico crew and the Gambinos hassling him about what happened to Batts he probably figured that DeSimone wasn't worth it. Goodfellas was long enough and Pesci's Desimone potrayal was just enough to be convincing and sorta likeable, telling the total truth in movies can make it too convoluted and sometimes doesn't make fit the narrative they want to come across in the film

i actually loved the joe pesci character and was glad they did not go into it. tommy was a funny guy. i actually met paul vario jr. a nice guy.

I think most people like Tommy, the character in the movie but the real life guy was by most accounts much worse of a guy. Putting the Alleged rape attempt wouldn't have made him look any better.
