I believe the average is 100. According to Mensa, "The term "IQ score" is widely used but poorly defined. There are a large number of tests with different scales. The result on one test of 132 can be the same as a score 148 on another test." Mensa, by the way, is a society for people (geniuses) who have an IQ in the 98th percentile (or the top 2%). I think on a Mensa-approved test, that would be 131, but I suppose it varies, based on the above quote. If you didn't pay for your test, (like if you took a free internet one) it probably isn't completely reliable. Mensa Web Site Check this out, it's a pretty interesting site.

I searched for this a while ago when I took IQ test and this is what I found on Yahoo. I took tickle's Classic and Super IQ test and my results were 133 for the Classic one and 131 for Super IQ test. Keep in mind that age and level of education plays an important role in these tests so you need to make sure if the kind of the test you're taking is right for you. ---------------------------------- Test scores usually range from 90 to 110. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the standard psychiatric reference, lists scores of 110 to 120 as "bright normal," 120 to 130 as "superior," and 130 and above as "very superior." One could reasonably equate "bright normal" with "smart," and "very superior" with "genius." Here is the link: WECHSLER ADULT INTELLIGENCE SCALE

I vaguely remember reading that a grown up chimpanzee has the IQ of a young human child.

I vaguely remember reading that a grown up chimpanzee has the IQ of a young human child. How do they measure it? With a written test? BTW, is that Koko in your avatar, lefty? ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/wink.gif)

My daughter had IQ tests done at 2 by a speech pathologist. She's a smart gal, but wasn't reading and writing at 2. No that isn't Koko. Koko is a gorilla. The little guy on my avatar is an orangutan. Isn't he adorable? ![](http://www.allposters.com/IMAGES/PA/6445023.jpg)
