I'm doing an essay for school and just wanted to get some other people's opinions on this. If you were to recast the Wizard of Oz today, who would you have in the roles?
A few I have:
Dorothy: Jamie Lynn Sigler-Discala Lion: Nathan Lane Wicked Witch: Glen Close Glinda the good witch: Mereyl Streep(trying to think of someone younger though) Wizard of Oz: Tinman: Cant think of anyone for this or scarecrow Scarecrow:
I buy you out. You don't buy me out.

Dorothy-Jamie Lynn Sigler-Discala Scarecrow-Johnny Depp Tinman-still unsure.... Lion-Jack Black Wicked Witch-Angelica Huston Good Witch-Halle Berry Wizard of Oz-Ian Holm, although Jack Nicholson would be cool Director-maybe Spielberg, he can put a movie together well

Scarecrow: Ed Norton or Christopher Lloyd Wizard: Joe Pesci (I think that would be pretty funny, actually), Danny DeVito (he'd be funny, too), Jackie Mason, or Rodney Dangerfield.

The Wizard of Oz -- one of my favorite books (and NO, not because I have lived in Kansas in the past or presently live less than 20 miles from the border). I liked the book moreso than the movie -- if you get the chance pick up a copy and read it -- a little more gruesome than the movie. Baum was also a satirist and it has been argued that this story as commentary on the "gold standard" issue of the day. BTW - in the book, Dorothy wore silver slippers -- not ruby red. OK, my recast for the movie: Dorothy -- Letizia (Zia). Of course, in the remake she wears ruby stillettos instead of slippers and a much shorter skirt. Toto -- Sir Charles Kringle of Lido (Charlie), my speed demon weiner dog. Glinda, the witch of the North (who by the way is always "Glinda, the Witch of the North" or simply "Glinda", but never as "Glinda, the Good Witch of the North" in the movie) -- Miggie, can you think of anyone sweeter? The Brainless Scarecrow -- Pat Don't worry buddy, in the end the scarecrow received one (or realized he had one! The Cowardly Lion -- Obviously John Kerry. Ok, if Baum used his original story as social commentary, the least I can do is do the same with my recast. Mr Kerry is the only "non-BB member" I have used. Well, I assume he is not a member, hell, maybe he is and uses a different user name. Oh yeah, Charlie is not an official BB member as he does not meet the age requirements, so I used my artistic license adn consider him an "honorary BB member" as his name (and pictures) have been posted on here (thanks to me!). OK, where was I? OH yeah, Mr. Kerry. Well, again there is hope. The Lion was granted courage in the book so maybe, just maybe, Mr. Kerry will show some courage and take a definite stance on an issue. Tin Man (No Heart) -- Double J. I don't believe this but I picked on Pat from the left, so must pick on someone from the correct (doh) I mean right side of the aisle. Damn, am I being PC by making sure someone from both sides of the aisle are poked at? I must show courage. NO, I will just say I am being diplomatic. Wicked Witch of the West -- Hummm. OK, a toss-up between Angie and Kristen. It can go either way. Maybe one can be the Wicked Witch of the West and one be the Wicked Wich oe the East (the one that dies during the tornado. I will let them fight it out to decide who plays which part. Man, that will be fun to watch! Oh yeah, in the remake, they will not be the nasty, wart-nosed looking witch like the opriginal. They will be the seductive hot-looking babes that they are now. And, it goes without saying, a short skirt is the required attire. Now, who wants to buy a ticket to watch the cat fight to determine who plays which part? The Almighty Oz -- this was a tough choice. While the obvious choice shgould be Geoff or S.C., I think they will agree with me when I give the part to TIS. The little lovely lady who packs a big punch! Aunty Em or Uncle Em -- Ummm two choices here. Either Afsaneh or MaryCas. Afi would give our cast an international perspective and MaryCas brings a "common sense" approach to the part (Besides, save for playijng the part of tree in the third grade Christmas program, he is probably the only cast member with any acting experience!). OK, I have decided -- Afi will play the part of Aunite Em and Mary Cas lands the role of Uncle Em. However, we are going to add a "love-making" scene to the movie. Munchkins -- the mucnchkins will be played by all short members of the BB and Al Pacino. Speaking of munchkins and The Wizard of Oz, legend has it that the munchkin actors' had wild drunken orgies and other escapades off the set. That myth has been determined to be greatly exaggerated. However, it makes for a good story! Flying Monkeys -- well, the head Flying Monkey will be played by me. I have lots of experience with this part as I play one nearly everynight in my reoccuring dream (when I finally [if] get to sleep). We need more flying monkeys, so if interested, let me know.

Very nice, Part! How fun, I can't wait! Very nicely cast. Good call on Kris and Ang being the Wicked Witch!! I think they should BOTH be witches. We'll make that slight change for them...artistic license, you know? Oh yeah, but you wanted to see a fight. Never mind, then. I never saw myself as a Dorothy, but if some snazzy ruby stilettos are involved, I think I can take care of the rest. Watch out, Judy Garland!!

Staring Peter Sellers as Dorothy Peter Sellers as Auntie Em Peter Selles as Toto Peter Sellers as The Cowardly Lion Peter Sellers as the Scarecrow Peter Sellers as The Tin Man Peter Sellers as the great Oz. Peter Sellers as Toto
