Did anyone else noticed that smile when he said they don't trust the mafia. Yeah, even a very youthful Joey Biden thought it was pretty funny, didn't recognize him in the beginning.. By the way, three years ago there was an announcement that Hollywood was making a movie about Mermelstein called 'The Man Who Made It Snow' with Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role. Haven't heard anything about it since, its page on IMDB also seem inactive. A bit unfortunate, because it could be a very good movie if it would be done right. Gyllenhaal as Mermelstein would be a very good start, the man is one of the best actors of his generation imo..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4tCZgoRGiUMax Mermelstein says here 1:15:25 that the Medellin cartel didnt want to work with the Italian mafia in US cause it happend in several occassions that the Mafia would shoot the delivery guys take the stash and simply not pay up. I wonder did this happened in NY or somewhere else in the states? Cause in newyork the Colombians were strong it seems unlikely they will not strike back.

This did happen often in the 80’s early 90’s with Colombians and Dominicans being robbed of cash & Blow And also Jamaicans being robbed of Weed. Good Weed, not dirt. They had the best weed back then, Tie stick and Sence.

My intensions with this post is to show the Cartel groupies that outside of their country Colombia/Mexico they are equal to the other organized crime groups with other Nationallity.
You wont see cartel in military style with 4-5 pickups and fully loaded with heavy rifles and blast their way thru everything. Outside of their countries they might lose a battle against Italians, Russians, Albanians, Irish, but also win a battle, its all about timing and situations.
I remember i read in a book that even Pablo Escobar sent people to Europe to deal coke without the Italians permission and his people wound up dead all the time untill he got the point , that he need to go thru the Italians. This was back then when they had monopoly i dont think thats the case now even if they might be the ones who pushes the most coke in Europe. I think cartels power in their own country certainly contributed to their over boarder activities in some degree. But generally speaking they are equal to other groups out of their country.,same goes to the Italian mafia, they are the dominating force in Italy but outside they have to compete with others. Moreover, the aim of cartel is selling their drug to local groups, they do not really concerning taking over the place so theres little chance they have problem with local groups.

Chris Rosenberg robbed Cubans if am correct ... not colombians The Cuban was closely allied/worked with some Colombians. He had some hitmen in NY and stepped to the Gambinos hard, Castellano was furious and ordered Chris hit. That is why the story of Italians ripping off Colombians I find hard to believe.

I too would have found it hard to beilve if one of the Italians had said it. But when one of the Medellin cartels guys say that they themselves were beeing robbed sometimes, then i believe it. Its nothing to boast about.
