So ive decided to start this thread due to what ive seen in nyc recently. With cost of living increasing, and yuppies gentrifying almost every neighborhood in Brooklyn, it seems as if the city has a huge income problem. Most people looking to move to the city could never afford any of the city’s ridiculous prices. No middle class person could ever afford a $1,000,000 house. Even rent is too much. Its almost too the point where if u live in Brooklyn ur either rich or ur poor. Same goes with Manhattan and the bronx. Anyone else see the inequality in income in nyc?

I too wonder what the end game is. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better that we had another Great Depression. It would seem the other option is that we incrementally sink into a two class society, like many other countries throughout the world. Then again, could it be that it's just too late? When the last depression happened, we had a country where people stood up for workers' rights. The Triangle Factory Fire of 1911 is one of the events that kicked off the American labor movement. Something like that happens now and nobody even cares. It's just another breaking news story on CNN. So, would a depression even prompt the working class to stick together and demand another New Deal is implemented, or would everyone just turn on each other, fight to keep whatever crumbs they have? The future looks bleak.

Fuck income inequality. Work hard, start a business ,or get a high paying job in a high paying field and you will do well. Dont believe the bullshit. Get a degree in engineering and if you are good at what you do, you will make money. Get a degree in communications or some other dumb fuckin major, and you will be working at macdonalds.
Also, dont have a fuckin baby before you are married or at a young age. You do that and you will probably be behind the 8 ball.

Beverly Hills is one small suburb. We're talking about the entire city of New York, which is the largest city in the country. A nation's largest city being outright unaffordable to the vast majority of the nation's citizens is not a good economic indicator.

What im sayin is that nyc is lacking a middle class. Once middle class communities like bensonhurst, Bedford–Stuyvesant, and Hell’s Kitchen r now run by rich hipsters with the housing costs bein absolutely ridiculous. Most of the affordable places to live in Brooklyn r the projects. Conditions in the projects r complete shit. A city needs a hard working middle class cuz a city is where the jobs r at.
