Ive read that the genoveses clipped acting capo Lawrence Ricci since ricci was reluctant to take a guilty plea. Why were the genoveses so against ricci going to trial?

Lawrence Ricci was making power plays for the top spot in New Jersey, was said to have been withholding serious cash from the family, and there is said to have been a beef between him, Lawrence Dentico, Tino Fiumara and an unidentified Gambino Capo. Fiumara was smarter and well connected to Manhattan and The Bronx. Not accepting the plea deal did not matter to the Genovese higher ups, as there were already a few qualified soldier to take the spot, even with Coppola in hiding. Everything points to it being an internal crew and crime family dispute.

If the reason was just about not taking the plea this guy was a fool for disobeying orders. I bet he wasn’t expecting there was a chance of him being whacked in modern times. Was this the last high profile hit for the west side? Also do we know who may of done it? I bet we don’t. Any other family and there would be rumours all over from day one

Coppola on orders from Fiumara has always been the rumor.

I read Coppola proffered (if that’s the word). Has this affected his name as it’s also said he done it to buy time for his wife or something who the feds were leaning on?
