As I mentioned in a different post, I've been having computer problems for the past couple weeks. I had the EXACT same problem, except my PC was freezing -- but it was triggered and caused by the same thing: the Windows SP2 package. I took it to the shop and cleaned it out and ran Spysweeper and my anti-virus and EVERYTHING and we couldn't find out the problem. Finally, we came to find it was internet explorer. IE is not compatible with the new SP2 package. This may or may not be your problem, depending if you're even using IE. My suggestion, though -- and what worked for me -- is to do away with IE (don't delete it, as you can't, just don't use it) and download Mozilla. That's what I did, and I've been doing fine. Mozilla 1.7.3

Just download it -- click the download link, save it to disk (make a folder for it, save it in there, preferably), go into start, click "Run," then "Browse," go to where you saved it, open it, install it. You can then set it as your default browser -- it will probably ask you.

I tend to stay away from most updates until I can read the reviews and user comments, especially for things like Windows Service Packs. One piece of advice I can give is to try the Maxthon browser (formerly known as MyIE2). It's nearly identical to Mozilla, with all of the functionality and just as easy to use. http://www.maxthon.com

I had a lot of problems after I installed SP2 as well. I couldn't open any links among other things. I am sorry I even installed it. Anyway, I did a "system restore" and although it took a while to complete, my computer is now working fine. I would recommend it. Just make sure you do the restore and not System recovery. TIS
