With the way the LE is in the US, I'm having a hard time believing that this would be internal or American LCN related. This is either coming from Canada or Italy, and seeing how Cali has Sicilian connections and the Gambinos doing business with mobsters from Toronto, Canada seems like a good candidate here. This possibly all goes back to drug trafficking/distribution. I think it's best for American mobsters to get out of the drug game and stick to safer routes like construction and gambling. I get that LCN isn't as violent as it used to be, but at the end of the day, it is a criminal organization and the guys in the life will put in work if they have to or have something big to gain. With risk comes reward. There's been numerous incidents of violence recently, especially in NY. I think it's a power play move within the Gambinos. Older American Gambinos are behind this, I bet. Zips don't drive pickup trucks. ZERO chance this is random or a road rage incident.

I still say it's Joseph Corozzo, his bother (Nick) and Gene. Wouldn't put my money on the West Side either, but you know...as was stated before, they're not cowboys but when they do kill they make massive statements. maybe it was approved by the commission I wouldn't rule out anything, but I won't put up theories of my own either. When Zottola got whacked I shrugged it off when some posters were mentioning Albanians or the UBN. And who turned out to be involved? Shocking that the boss of a major crime family wouldn't have more security around his house. Forget cameras. I would think bulletproof windows, doors, and body guards permanently stationed there.
Cali most likely didn't even know someone was out to get him or this wouldn't have happened. This is why I would doubt it is anything to do with the coke bust a few days before. If that had happened and Cali was any way culpable or vulnerable or responsible he wouldn't be going outside like that in the night time. I just don't see it. And to stretch that theory, if there was a threat from Canada or anywhere else further afield then the same applies, he would surely be very aware of it and take precautions. If I had to place a wager on who it is I'd say it would be from inside the Gambino's, I think the theory about the younger American guys wanting to take back the family from the zips makes sense. Cali might not have been boss on his own but by all reports, he held a lot of sway on either side of the pond and was the go to guy. Hitting someone like that would send a big message.

I would rule out anything to do with Canada. I don't think many Canadian OC members want to get extradited to the US. I wouldn't rule that out. The brutality of the hit is typical Canadian. There's a war going on in Ontario now and the Gambinos are active over there and they seemed to have played a role in the Montreal mob war too. Perhaps Cali was stirring things up over there and some of the groups there had enough of it and wanted to make a statement. The old Rizzuto group might be desperate enough to pull off something like this with all the hits they endured themselves with New York most likely sanctioning these attacks since they are all part of the same organization (LCN). Perhaps they felt they had nothing to lose. Just thinking out loud here. There's no denying how similar this hit is with many in Montreal and now in Hamilton. Mobsters getting killed in front of their home seems to be the norm there nowadays.
