And you liar, teller of tall tales: you trample all the Lord's commandments underfoot, you murder, steal, commit adultery, and afterward break into tears, beat your breast, take down your guitar and turn sin into a song. Shrewd devil, you know very well that God pardons singers no matter what they do, because he can simply die for a song.

The full five and a half hour cut of this film has never been released on home video in the United States, but I believe there is a PAL VHS tape with English subtitles. The American cut is supposedly a mess, but the full version is considered by many to be a masterpiece. If it is half as good as The Conformist, then it will still be incredible. And, as always, Vittorio Storaro's cinematography is probably great.
