I usually try to keep away from the more modern stuff but I've heard Bobby say it more than once.... What Does he mean by, "The Colombo Family is all but gone"???

How exactly did Luisi hook up with Philly? You just dont randomly contact crime families and ask to work with them. I dont care how much money you can claim to make them, they have to know you or have had some sort of previous relationship.

I would still like to know how Luisi actually got made in Philly. He met someone in prison who knew Natale? There has to be more to the story.

He really said he was gonna start his own family and the other guys didnt start laughing. Bad snuff you couldn't get inducted in your own town when baby shacks was making guys in 96. Dinunzio brothers lato ect. But your reporting to another city city 6 hrs away kicking up. Then they said you could start your own family and this is close to 2000 sontheres books and documentaries about the 5 families and how they set the stage and this bozo still was talking about his own separate new england family. Luisi was introduced to Natale and Merlino a few months before Natale was arrested for parole violation. A guy from New England who had been in prison with Natale made the introduction. No-one was wanting to make Luisi into the Patriarca family at that time, so he was doing his own thing and looking for another way to climb the ladder. He approached the Gambinos but they turned him down, so he got introduced to the Philadelphia guys. They brought him in based on that recommendation and introduction because he could make them money. Luisi got put with George Borgesi. Luisi and Borgesi went on a trip to Vegas together and also took their families to Disney World in Florida. Natale was more hesitant and wanted to bring him in slowly, but Merlino hurried things along when Natale was arrested. Merlino sent a message to Peter Caprio, telling him to ask the Genovese family for permission to make the Boston guys. The Genovese family said no, but Merlino went ahead with the inductions anyway. The FBI started carrying Luisi as a soldier by Fall 1998 and alleged he was promoted to captain in 1999. Luisi had promised to pay Merlino $100,000 in monthly sums of $10,000.

I know he reached out to the Gambino’s and Pete Gotti said no. I wonder who he reached out to in the gambino’s and how that was facilitated? Did he know a Gambino?
I would imagine Luisi got the idea of being made by a family in a different city by seeing how Sprinfield Mass belonged to the Genovese and not the Patriarca’s.

Great insight Chin. Just watched the podcast. Luisi makes him self sound like he ran the north end and spots like revere before he got his button. That seems crazy to me. Esp for the guys that were in that area during those years. I don’t doubt he made some serious money. Imo it was a perfect storm with him. Patriarcas didn’t want him for various reasons it seems, he made enough money to grab someone’s attention, and who better than someone like Merlino.
