John Gotti whacked Tommy Desimone in 1979 and Jimmy Coonan was charged with the murder of Mickey Spillane. Indeed, 1979 was a deadly year in NYC organized crime history, possibly as deadly as 1930-31 during the Castelli-marese War
. . I doubt Gotti was the one who actually did the killing. I think Tommy Agro and/or other members of the Bergin crew actually did the killing http://www.gangsterbb.net/threads/images/icons/classic/thumbs_up.gif

It cracks me up when a wiseguy is labeled a bullshitter, show me a stand up gangster and I'll show you an undercover cop. Tommy Agro confirmed Gotti was present at the murder which was slow and painful, so while Gotti might have, or not, been the actual trigger man,. It would be reasonable to assume he was upset at the murder of his friend Billy Bats and probably got a few shots in before DeSimone met his maker. It should not crack you up, and Henry Hill was barley a wiseguy at all. He was a hang-around con man for the most part. If you don't think there are stand up wiseguys, real ones, look at all the ones who took their sentences like men, or lived quietly till dying without going to prison., the Gotti, Johh Riggi, Gigante, al the ones still in prison and not ratting. Look at a Frank Costello. Now compare them to Henry Hill. See a difference?

I guess relative to some other lying, thieving, murdering and utterly lacking any morals gangsters, yeah he was a bullshitter. However, compared to real stand up men like Rick Rescorla, Stephen Stiller or any man who puts in an honest days work, they're all a bunch of bullshitters who brought decades of misery on generations of New Yorkers for their own profit, so they're all full of shit in my book.. Rick Rescorla was a hero as a soldier, I had to look him up, but what does his heroics have to do with the number of mafia members killed? Dumb! You are brining up people killed in 9/11, a tragedy, but to use them to make your point is disgraceful

I cited their names as examples of what a real stand up guy is, not any Mobster. Sure, I understand your point,, guys like Toddo Aurello, Dellacroce, Scarpa, Profaci had better reputations than Henry Hill but if you think they were loyal to anybody but themselves, that's just plain wrong and you know it. Anyone of those guys would have a civilian whacked, just so they could have an affair with their wives if they wanted, and they did many times. Like I said, sure there are stand up Mobsters, but that's relative to their lifestyle. Rick Rescorla was head of security for Morgan Stanley and also perished on 9/11 after returning to the Towers to ensure everyone had evacuated the building, that's a stand up guy in my book.

He used Varios son and Bruno to bring Tommy D to the "making ceremony". Now the rats like Casso, DArco, the Brooklyn crews weren't involved in the actual hit because they would have reported it. It's said they took Tommy D to the Bronx where he got whacked. None of those major Bronx guys at that time flipped mainly because th is were whacked in the mid-late 80s. I'd say once Bruno and Rugsy delivered him to the Bronx Tom Mix it took care of him using Buddy Luongo's crew.
