Finally, we can post up whatever we think about the most successful film franchise in history(in terms of longevity and strength).

To me, my favorites of the 20 film series(if you don't include the messy comedy CASINO ROYALE and that Sean Connery return to Bond flick that was NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN of course. Urgh) would primarily be the Sean Connery entries, mainly GOLDFINGER and FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE. I also liked FROM HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, and GOLDENEYE(which to me was the last actually solid good film in the franchise).

I do have to note that while I liked SPY, I felt Roger Moore was pretty crappy as Bond. I know that its a generational thing(apparently, those that grew up with Connery in the role prefered him while those that first saw Moore prefered him), but to shorten things up....I think of Moore as the William Shatner of the Bond players. Seriously, compare his "action" with similar situations with Connery in his films, and guess who was more believable. Coonery was f*cking cool, and Moore was as cool as TAB soda. I did however like Pierce Brosnan but his problem has been that after GOLDENEYE, the movies suck.

Anyway, enough with my pointless meandering comments, and post your thoughts on the matter, or kick my a*s and score my girl while making a witty remark, whatever comes first.

From Russia With Love: wonderful setpieces, a sweepingly pacey plot, and Connery on best form. WHat more could you ask for? I also hear from various sources that it's the best book too.

In approximate order after that: Goldfinger, Dr. No, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, GoldenEye, Diamonds Are Forever.

Die Another Day
was simply awful, and the franchise clearly needs a revitalisation, perhaps a more downbeat outing next time?

Order of best 007 and their best film:
1. Connery (all but NSNA)
2. Moore (MWTGG)
3. Brosnan (Goldeneye)
4. Dalton (LTK)
5. Lazenby (yuck)

Connery is, of course, the perfect Bond, but I do believe that Moore is a close second. He pulls off the 007 charm perfectly. Brosnan is also excellent films are too politically correct.
I have the first collection of Bond DVDS and I am planning to receive the last two for Christmas/Birthday. Then I will have all the 007 Dvds.

Bond 21 will be released November 17th, 2006. Why they don't wait one month til 2007 is beyond me.

[/b][/quote]That would make sense, I doubt they are planning on having another one comeout in 2007. And that would be such an easy gimmick to work with as well. That's hollywood for ya.

On her Majesty's Secret Service for me, simply fantastic film.

Curious to consider how it would have played, had Connery still been around for that one and not chased the dollar elsewhere. (Coming back for Diamonds are Forever, hmm...)

Beautiful film which shows a lot more to Bond the person than the previous outings.

From an outright spy/thriller/storyline point of view, From Russia With Love has to be up there as a classic.

Best Bonds, IMHO :

1) Sean Connery
2) Pierce Brosnan
3) Roger Moore
4) Timothy Dalton
5) George Lazenby

Best Bond Movies, also MHO :

1) Goldfinger
2) Goldeneye
3) The Man With The Golden Gun
4) From Russia With Love
5) Thunderball
6) Dr. No
7) Die Another Day
8) Live And Let Die
9) You Only Live Twice
10)The Spy Who Loved Me

I will defend putting Die Another Day in my top ten for those of you who think I should. I admit that it was filmed by MTV Class 101 but I thought it was a very brave decision on the filmmaker's part to show Bond was captured and tortured, as people are not used to seeing their hero in such a desperate state and it may not have worked. Also kudos to the wonderful swordfight between Bond and Gustav Graves (although Madonna was looking a little long in the tooth!). I also loved when John Cleese as the incumbent 'Q' gave a little nod towards the great Desmond Llewellyn when he says

As I learned from my predecessor, Bond, I never joke about my work.

"From Russia with Love" was the hands-down best. Hard to top the villain team of Lotte Lenya and Robert Shaw. "Goldfinger" second.

I haven't seen many of Connery's films, and maybe that's why my favorite Bond is Roger Moore. I also like Pierce Brosnan.

my favorite Bond movies must be Octopussy, The Man with the Golden Gun, Goldeneye, Goldfinger... and I could go on and on...

Still i see no changes..........
