I don't think he was made, I think he was close to them as a friend, and trusted. He knew a lot, but not everything. Since he was not made or a gangster, he was free to do interviews. I believe him more than Gravano, even keeping in mind that he was favorable towards Gotti. Gravano has lied too much, changed h is stories, swore he was going legit back after he ratted, then was shown to be running a fake construction site and a drug ring. He also threatened a citizen in Arizona for questioning him about his construction business, The more videos he does the more he makes things up.

Ya'll made some real good points.I don't belive that Sammy and Deccico told Gotti "shut the fuck up" either.i also believe Gotti had most of the say in the Castellano killing for he became boss.In underboss,Gravano said he didn't know who told the shooters to dress alike but it was a "great idea" it would confuse any witness.Which it did.Gotti obviously had the lead in the planning with their insight. There are many pics of Gotti and Deccico in prison starting in 1969.That is nearly 2 decades before the killing. They were super close. Also,I agree,if Pappa had signed a statement would the Westside,of all the families not have known. He would have never been made when his name was passed around to the other families

Not 2 mention , he is very slow in his delivery of telling a story..( which annoys the hell outta me)..& makes u wonder if he's makin' shit up as he goes along in his head. I watch his stuff only out of curiosity..like that old saying " never believe anything that u hear & only half of what u see"......

If you listen to Sammy's rise in the "rampers" it kind of has the same themes. Sammy was #2 behind Papa, they got busted and Sammy claims to have seen a signed statement on the desk of the police sergeant, showing that Papa was cooperating.
Gravano goes back and tells the rest of the gang what he saw, and supposedly [ according to him ] they all turn on Papa, and he becomes the leader. Its all just speculation on my part; was there really a paper on that desk? Was Papa really cooperating? Joe Vitale who was also a ramper, also seen the letter, and one of Joe Cataldo sons, who's name escapes me. Someone in the Lucchese family also had contacts at that precinct and was told that Gerard Pappa asked for protection. So two other rampers seen the letter and it was not just Gravano word on it. It was enough for the gang. Genovese had sitdowns over with not just the Gambinos over Pappa, but also with the Lucchese, and Colombo families, not just for his antics and Spero murder, but because of that paper. Regardless, Pappa was made in the Genovese crime family and was still up to his antics, the final straw was his unauthorized killing of Ralph Spero.

WOW... Never seen that before that was Joe "Butter" DeCicco, George DeCicco's brother.
He was not made however, had the respect and power and operated as a made guy on the street.
He would sit down with other made guys with the weight and power of his CAPO brother George, in essence he spoke for his brother.
That was def P.R. for John Gotti, probably trying to taint the jury or jury pool.
Would not have done this on his own.
He has been dead for many years now.

Old school...Doing TV interviews....
Can anybody see Quiet Dom doing interviews about The Chin ??? I think a few old timers did tv interviews, Galante once spoke to reporters, there is a video online of it. This was an extended interview though. I think since he was not made he could do it. They were trying to counter all the news coverage. The prosecutors due a lot of news interviews and almost do an online trail against a defendant. the Gotti people were looking to combat it with this one interview. Nothing was going to help at that point. I agree the Gotti's did this with Jr. Vickie wrote a book and released it right when the jury was about to deliberate She wrote a chapter or somehow included that Jr. Quit the Mob, And that part ran in the news cycle that he quit In an effort to sway the jury. They did multiple things such as that to try and out smart or battle the prosecutors I personally dont think they get enough credit as a whole At this point they are an easy target

Sammy's latest pod about Costa Nostra history is quite funny, he does not seem to have much of a clue!
