It’s amazing how Ruby felt safe and comfortable around Coonan and his crazy crew, I would have thought him to be hanging in a higher social scene back then rather than Hells Kitchen.

I agree with you. He probably thought of himself as an "untouchable" who they looked at in awe. Ruby figured he'd use their muscle as his personal collectors....He found out something about those whacked out fucks, but a bit too late to help him though.
