When was that vote taken?
Assuming DelVecchio's story isn't a total fabrication, I'm assuming that it was Chin, Ducks & Rusty who vetoed this idiotic idea. I ask about timing because one would really have to wonder whether or not the vote would have gone the other way if Amuso was in charge of the Lukes at the time.
....or was he?? Book:- in 2007 document made public that back in 1987 leaders had a vote to kill RG. @Hollander Why would Riina want RG dead ? Pizza connection?? wouldn't surprise me if he did.

In persico book it says the commission (nyc) had a vote to assassinate Rudi. This, according to bent fbi agent DeVecchio. This from a ' source'. Hhmm! It went 3 v 2 against the idea. Persico and Gotti voting for it. It came out during DeVecchio's trial.
No way do I believe this. Heat would of been unrelenting. Anyone think different ?
What Persico book? Is it Frank DeMatteo, the bulls#ter? Wouldn't a document in a 1987 court case be easy to check that it was real? Maybe the guy is full of it. Easy(ish) for those with the Internet skills to check. Got to admit, I'd of thought this vote would've been more widely known, if true. Maybe you're right jace. I still liked his books.

Rosario Naimo confessed to Italian investigators.
Sicilian mafia sent hit man to whack Giuliani By Andy Soltis
February 28, 2014 | 2:05pm
Adams calls on DA to prosecute Giuliani, who demands mayor resign Rudy Giuliani associate sentenced to 20 months in prison You should be reaching out to Rudy, Eric, not picking fights with him Newsmax host to Giuliani over 'assault' claim: 'I gotta be honest, it doesn't look that bad' The head of the Sicilian mafia sent a hit man to America to arrange the murder of Rudy Giuliani in the 1980s, Italian news media reported.
“Boss of bosses” Salvatore Riina targeted Giuliani because of his friendship with an anti-mafia judge in Sicily, Giovanni Falcone.
The plot to kill Giuliani, while he was US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, came to light during a trial in Sicily in which former Italian government officials are accused of agreeing to a peace pact with the mob in the 1990s.
During the trial in Palermo, it was disclosed that a former mafioso, Rosario Naimo, moved to the United States in 1965 and became the Sicilian mob’s senior representative in the US.
Naimo told investigators that a bloodthirsty mobster named Benedetto “The Beast” Villico arrived from Italy with a letter from Riina that ordered the assassination of Giuliani, the news agency ANSA reported.
But Riina dropped the plan when he realized that US law enforcement could retaliate by destroying the Sicilian mob, the website Palermo Today said.
Falcone wasn’t as lucky. He was assassinated by Riina’s men in 1992.
Giuliani has said in the past that he was targeted while he was mayor. “They offered $800,000 to kill me,” he said last year in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“Then toward the end of the time I was mayor, a particular mafia guy, who was convicted and put in jail for 100 years, put out a contract to kill me for $400,000,” he said. “I kind of felt bad that I went down in value.”
He appeared to be referring to Riina, who is serving multiple life sentences.
"The king is dead, long live the king!"

....or was he?? Missed your DeVecchio reference first time, but you're right fbi agent DeVecchio wrote the memo citing a source. Who was certainly Scarpa sr. Names gotti and persico but the 3 others are just listed as their family names. Currently reading Deal with the Devil. Really good, DeVecchio was really bent. Lucky he didn't go the way of Connoly.

I don't think Gotti was ever in a commission meeting. plus other bosses were trying to steer clear of him due to his being so constantly followed by the FBI and NYC Organized Crime task force, plus the media following him, I def second that thought , always have...No way would Chin ever sit @ a table and break bread w/ the likes of a (in Chins mind) street thug like Gotti...let alone Gotti supposedly being as ppl say "capo di tutti"...he crossed the line in the 1st place by not getting full approval of all the commission as he allegedly told Nicky Scarfo a month after the hit on Big Paul. Well, Gigante still had to meet Gotti and ' play nice'. Not sure how many times they met. Remember gravanos part in the book " unlike stupid John, me and chin would never have our kids in the life ". We all know that ended up an all time laughable lie.

@hoodlum According to gravanos book, the Chin said " jeez I'm sorry to hear that ". to Sr saying his son was made. I have a hard time believing that, firstly, it sounds like a sneery type response. Secondly, what does that say about the 'life'. Thirdly, we know how some (all?) of the Chins kids ended in the mob. .
Although chin was probably meaning ' I'm sorry to hear your dumb moron son has been allowed into our life ".

Although chin was probably meaning ' I'm sorry to hear your dumb moron son has been allowed into our life ". Not all but one for sure 2 espositos that had with his goomar. Nice story is that Chin ordered to George Barone to find a no show job in the port union for his son and the fact for them wasnt a good job led to shelving of Barone and his decision to flip because the family wanted him dead. Barone was one of the few genoveses to flip. Barone was so old he was crazy to rat, and he really held a grudge. https://gangstersinc.org/profiles/blogs/genovese-soldier-george-baroneBarone still held sway over the waterfront, but younger wiseguys had moved into positions of more power and wealth and the ‘oldfella’ felt disrespected. It made him hard to deal with and he soon came to blows with Andrew Gigante, the son of the family boss. Andrew needed help with getting a friendly company a lucrative contract and Barone was told to make it happen. But Barone was owed money by the company and insisted that debt be paid first. The conflict between Barone and father and son Gigante quickly escalated, resulting in Barone (right) being “put on the shelf” as it is called in mob parlance. Which meant he held no more power within the Mafia. He had become a pariah. And he knew that now that the mob no longer had any use for him, probably viewed him as a liability even, his time was surely up. That is when, in 2001, he contacted Team America. “I went bad,” Barone said about his new role as government witness. “I wanted to get even. I wanted to survive. I didn't want to get killed by them,” he added, referring to Vincent Gigante and his Genovese Family. “I decided that the Mafia is not the paternal, wonderful organization that it proposes to be. The esprit de corps does not exist. Greed, violence, betrayal: that is what exists.”
