The McKinnon kid was Geas' bunkmate. If he didn't agree to be the lookout like he was 'asked', he might have suffered a similar fate. Geas doesn't give two f$cks. I thought I remember reading that DeCologero, was out very soon not 2029. That is a tight spot to be in. If you deny your cell mate Now you just made an enemy most likely. An enemy that has nothing to lose. As crazy as it sounds if the plan was to Kill Bulger And I am DeCologero I would start a fight with someone else right away get thrown in the hole short term, or even a guard, get thrown in the hole right away, now you just saved face, you didn’t participate not because you were afraid, you were not there because you got into a fight. You can’t be around lifers if you have a few years left on your bid.

It looks like Whitey's ticket was punched before he ever arrived at Hazelton. "Numerous inmates at Hazelton knew in advance about Bulger’s impending arrival, and even placed bets on how long he would stay alive, because prison officials had been cavalier in how they shared information about his transfer. — Despite the target on his back as a federal cooperator, he was placed in a unit with at least one rival mobster from Massachusetts. “In our view, no BOP inmate’s transfer, whether they are a notorious offender or a non-violent offender, should be handled like Bulger’s transfer was in this instance,” the inspector general report said, referring to the Federal Bureau of Prisons." https://www.nbcnews.com/news/dont-believe-everything-see-whitey-bulgers-bloody-final-hours-rcna60775
