Probably since the street power of the bikers among white criminals eclipsed that of the mob.
Make no mistake, their fashion sense may not be up to your taste, but the sense of money making some of these guys have is way above average. You may think they look like thuggish white trash, but they're savvy enough to be a significant force. Drugs, gambling, loansharking, prostitution, weapon trafficking, fencing...they have their fingers in all sorts of pies. And whereas the mob these days has the reputation to shy away from violence, the bikers still have the notoriety for using brute force when necessary - even if biker violence in reality is actually sporadic nowadays.

In the movie "A Bronx Tale" I'm sure all you guys remember the scene that the bikers come into the mob controlled neighborhood and go into the bar and get loud and wild, and also very disrespectful. The guys then proceed to beat the shit out of the bikers and telling them never to show their faces again. Back then the mob hated bikers just as much as blacks.
So why the change in heart when it comes to Bikers? Why do they conduct business with them now and accept that in todays day and age?
Well it's a movie for one. That was supposed to be 1967. Everyone hated bikers back then. Plenty still do. Generally speaking those guys were pretty old for that period. Made it more fakey to me. Not all hate the bikers. The mob havent the straight of the old times so must deal with bikers especially the small families. Scarfo sr must repay the Pagans after a drunken Sal Merlino punched a biker and broke his bike;the Outfit have ties with the Outlaws mc same thing for the Detroit family or the Rizzuto in Montreal. The bikers dont fear the prison and are more happy to use the violence and have a large and young recruitment pool. Now many that 20-30 would choose the mob now riding a bike.

Those are a couple of random things from the last 40+ years all over north America. I think every instance, good or bad, is pretty much a one off. There is no real guideline. It's just whatever, wherever, for however long. "Bikers" can be wildly different from one guy to the next.
