The FBI Lists this family as a faction of the Bonnano's.
So how much $$$ are they generating for the family in general? You're not going to get a answer to this because no one can actually say whether or not they are still recognized as Bonannos. Everyone has their opinions here but none of that proves anything. In the early 2000s Dominick Cicale was told by Baldo Amato that Sal Montagna was collecting tribute for Vincent Basciano from Montreal at Christmas time and it was increased from 50k to 100k which they agreed to. Baldo Amato was close to the Montreal Bonannos and was close to and a mentor to Sal Montagna. It's not a primary source but it does come from someone who would be in a position to know. They killed Sal Montagna who overplayed his hand. They didn't Raynald Desjardins did. That's a important distinction to remember because it wasn't the Montreal Bonanno members who had him killed.

those on here are aware there is a search function on this site that allows you to view past topics and posts. i say this only because a topic like this continues to pop up every few months or so. with that being said the simple answer is nothing. the rizzuto-sollecito clan pays nothing to the bonannos. the fbi also lists the total numbers for each of the 5 families which have not changed a bit since 2004 according to the fbi a statistical impossibility, likely not a great source for current intell. to liggios question those who spent time in jail related to the murder of montagna are ; raynald desjardins, vittorio mirarchi, calogero milioto, petro magistrale, felice racaniello and the shooter jack simpson. most if not all should be out of jail by now, unbelievable i know but such is canadian justice.
the bonannos in the case of the 3 capos murders did indeed use both vito rizzuto and emanuele ragusa. that was the crime that vito was arrested for and imprisoned when massino and vitale began to sing.
and to mafias point it is important to distinguish factions, sides etc when discussing montreal at anytime after at least 2006. for sure after nov 2006 in mtl that was no longer a functioning united mafia family.
also i think any references to both desjardins and then later juan ramon fernandez being 'made' was media non sense. both had also been called vito's 'right hand man' at times, another hyped up press claim. vito was hard core sicilian who had a tight nit group of mostly italians and close family around him. what made him so respected and powerful was that he was able to work across the crime spectrum with those who could make money. desjardins was a high level importer of cocaine and hash with the rizzutos involved. but in the same large bust that led to desjardins arrest in proj jaggy 1993 there were other groups involved. the imports were not exclusive to the rizzutos. the quebec city HA were involved, antonio pietrantonio as well. as far as fernandez well we know what happened to him. another point about this oft quoted term 'right hand man' it can become very meaningless. when valentino morielli died in 2013 he was quoted as being vitos 'rhm', despite the fact morielli was only recently paroled in late 2012 and sick with cancer which ultimately led to his death. the same title was bestowed on vincenzo spagnolo when he was murdered in 2016. as we know now spagnolo wasnt even the intended target in that shooting it was his son nicola ordered by the scoppa bros. vincenzo spagnolos involvement in rizzuto affairs now appears to have been minor acting as someone to relay messages to the family when vito was imprisoned. vito likely relied on his father and paolo renda mostly along with rocco sollecito to help handle his business.

I think that ended years ago...Who's gonna go Montreal and enforce anything ?? I agree with this. Rizzuto’s went independent years ago as they grew in strength and NY dropped in strength. NY guys are not going to Canada for vacation anymore let alone going into that mob war turf to tell someone they want a cut. Not happening these days. IMO

Also, there's really NO good reason NY has no share in the Book. If they get kick ups, it definitely should be from that. They should have a share, maybe the biggest share.
We see the current conflict plaguing Montreal. Imagine Montagna ask, rather DEMANDS 25 percent off the TOP, of a Book that has 5 equal shareholders? Where was his cut supposed to come from? He shoulda moved someone else out and BOUGHT a share of the Book with tribute payments. He didn't understand that local OC wasn't subordinate, they were equal partners in various endeavors....
They became irretrievably entangled with local Organized Crime. And the Rizzutos were SO arrogant to SO many of their own guys. Almost without exception, everyone that turned on them got fucked outta either their livelihood, or years of their life, or both. They never made anything right.

Almost without exception, everyone that turned on them got fucked outta either their livelihood, or years of their life, or both. They never made anything right. I think that was one of Vito’s weaknesses. He had too many turn on him later on because of guys getting fucked over for territory or control. De Vito thought they were to blame (maybe was but I really don’t think so) Desjardins over the drug bust Del Balso/Giordano over the book Granted Giordano was offered a 1/4 of the book after he got out but he turned it down and that’s what got him killed. Del Balso was heavily involved with the betting & juice and of course was following Giordano and got even worse after Lorenzo was killed. Raynald they basically banished it seemed but he was still heavily involved in drugs with Mirarchi but I’d say it would have benefited Vito more to keep Desjardins happy Then the decision to put Arcadi in charge started all the chaos. There’s no doubt Vito was bright but I also think he made his share of mistakes like all of them have but you don’t last as long as he did in this day and time and not be smart though so as Junior Soprano would say: “he’s one keen motherfucker”
