Who could the mobster mentioned in this redacted law enforcement document possibly be? As it reads, it says an old school gangster who was part of the New York mob was broken out of a British jail in 1967 by European hoodlums. I haven't come up with anything. https://ibb.co/VjcqBhSAny ideas?

I'm thinking it must've been someone involved in The French Connection who made a stopover in England where he was detained. But the wording of the document leaves a lot of speculation.

Back in the 1960's Italian mobster Albert Dimes helped to arrange a 1966 conference between New York mafiosi and the Corsican Francisci brothers, apparently regarding investing in London casinos. Dimes contacts in the Italian American Mafia in New York and the Corsican Mafia in the South of France known as the Unione Corse were however well known to each other already and had been working closely on a heroin smuggling operation known as the French Connection, for many years. The French Connection being the basis for the later Hollwood film of the same name. There was a lot more gangland influence in the London Casino sector back in the 1960's, with the American Mafia running the Colony Sport Club, with Marcel Francisci and the Unione Corse running the River Club at 129 Grosvenor Road, and notorious Irish mob gangster Billy Hill running rackets at the Clermont Club. Marcel Francisci and his brother, also ran the prestigious Cercle Haussmann in Paris, as well the River Club in London and a further casino in Beirut. These powerful contacts ensured that Albert Dimes continued to run Soho and the West End until his death and is the reason that neither gangs such as Krays or Richardsons mainly stayed in the East End and South of London, and always respected Dimes decisions in relation to what went on in the West End.

Interesting. Yet as the document reads, this person was a "leader of the hoodlum element in New York". Was Dimes ever in the states? Is there another American mobster who was connected with Dimes? Seems like a good possibility whoever this document mentions could've been a liaison between Dimes and an American who got caught up in London.

Philadelphia boss Angelo Bruno and London Bruno delivered slotmachines to Atlantic Machines owned by Eddie Richardson and Frank Fraser thanks to Billy Hill and Albert Dimes. The American mafia owns in London the by George Raft led Colony Club and the Villa Casino till the English police in januari 1967 put Dino Cellini, Fred Ayoub and 6 other mobsters on a plane to the US. Also the mobsters Joseph Napolitano and Rickie Castucci were banned because they had in Villa Casino cheated the players. Soon the Colony Club closed and Raft went back to the US. Good research... It's definitely possible whoever wound up locked up in a British jail was connected to one of those people. Those men were asked to leave on their own volition but somewhere along the lines someone else received a jail sentence. Perhaps an enforcer sent to protect them?? Seems like whoever it is also had some part of The French Connection as it mentions The Francisi Brothers, they must've had some interest in getting that person out of jail. So let's see - how about a person who had involvement in the French Connection that may have been connected to, or was part of The Luccheses that traveled overseas in the mid 60s.

I believe the boss mentioned is Anthony Corallo the Lucchese and French Connection were close pretty funny because Tony was complaining about junk dealers in the famous tapes of Avellino's jaguar.

I've explored all these options yet can't come up with a viable name. I'm quite intrigued by it, what I did uncover is that in 1967 there was a rash of prison escapes in England.
