March 15, 2024 — Bonanno mobster Anthony (Little Anthony) Donato got another sentencing break because of family health concerns and was released early from his stay in a halfway house this week.
U.S. District Court Judge Nicholas Garaufis let 65-year old “Little Anthony” out of the halfway house a year prior to his scheduled out-date following lopping two years off his original sentence back last May for racketeering and murder tied to the winter 2001 gangland slaying of NYC mob hang-around Frank Santoro. A distinguished presence on the bench, Garaufis is known for overseeing several heavily-impactful Bonanno crime family cases and trials in his career wearing a robe.
Donato had been slated for a January 2026 homecoming until last spring and Garaufis’s intervention via a motion for compassionate release connected to care required for Donato’s special needs son. Little Anthony comes from the Bonanno’s Bronx crew and was caught up in the same 2006 RICO indictment that snared Bonanno mob don Michael (Mikey Nose) Mancuso. Donato’s car was used in the February 15, 2001 murder of Frank Santoro, who had threatened to kidnap the son of future Bonanno boss Vincent (Vinnie Gorgeous) Basciano.
