“America...Land of the Free!...Because of the Brave!”

Tomorrow — Monday, May 27th — will be the most expensive holiday on the calendar. Every hot dog, every burger, every spin around the lake, or drink with friends and family…is a debt…which was purchased by others. This is not about all who’ve served…that day comes in the fall. This one is in honor of all those who paid the ultimate price, with their life and blood…whose moms never saw them again, whose dads wept in private, whose wives raised kids alone, and whose kids only remembered them from photographs. This isn’t simply a day off. This is a day to remember — that others paid for every free breath you ever get to take…your Freedom!

...It called “Memorial Day!”

Amen NYMAFIA ! I am humbled every time I see a veteran because of their courage and patriotism. I dont have the courage they have. God Bless our veterans as well as those currently serving. Unfortunately only one political party acknowledges our vets. That was never the case until 10-15 years ago.

Happy Memorial Day especially to those brave men and women who served our country to protect us. It’s a shame that not everyone appreciates that but we definitely do here!

You guys do realize that there's a lot of idiots joining the military because they have no other options correct? I listed in the Marines I can tell you firsthand there's a lot of people who join the military that don't have any care about our country. You definitely wouldn't want these people protecting you. And thank God when they go through Boot Camp they do do a good job at making sure they send the ones off that are capable of war. Just to let you guys know there's about 75% of soldiers that wouldn't give a shit about protecting you.

In between the beers,burgers,and cornhole games, let's not forget the real meaning of Memorial Day.
It is just that : a memorial.
To all the brave men and women who gave their lives for our country,you are not,and never will be,forgotten.

If it weren't for the valiant and selfless efforts of our veterans, the landscape of the world would look much differently today, and we would probably all be speaking German.

The young men who came before us, the ones who gave up their own lives and dreams to defend the U.S. (and the world at large), are the ones who make it possible for all of us to live the wonderful lives that we do!

As I stated above, it is a debt we owe them that we will never be able to repay!!!

Not only for our veterans who fought in WWI and WWII (which were "truly" world wars, encompassing so many nations of the world,) but for all the young men and women who fought in all the battles through the decades, from full-scale wars, to single battles and military 'skirmishes'....

Recognized on the last Monday in May, each year, "Memorial Day" is both a sober day (for those who lost their lives,) and a celebratory one (because their bravery is what protected our freedom.) But regardless of viewpoint, we recognize it with our hats off, hat in hand, toward those who "gave it all"...for us...for Freedom!

I went to an observance this morning at a local cemetery that has a memorial monument for those who gave their lives for America.

A Military Honor Guard made up of representatives from each branch of the service assembled in front of the monument, and snapped to attention while a bugler blew "Taps".
They followed with a 21 gun salute. It was a very emotional experience.

In addition,the local Boy Scouts,American Legion,and VFW posts spent the last couple of days placing flags on the graves of every single Veteran.

The flags,as they are every year,were provided free of charge by the cemetery.

Amen! All the Way - Airborne!

To my Dad, Uncle Will, and Uncle Vince: thanks for putting your lives on the line for us. You lived to tell about it and now it is for us to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.
