Also due to this criminal activity, during law enforcement operations, the clan's representatives have been intercepted or arrested throughout the world and in particular in Spain , Portugal , the Netherlands , Canada , the United States , Mexico and the Dominican Republic . In northern Italy, members close to them were detected as well as for drug trafficking for the acquisition of contracts in Milan and Turin.

So do these families operate on their own or do they have relations with the Five families? Judging from their past patterns in other parts of the world I would say a little of both. They rather do networking with existing criminal elements and expand from there. When some are jailed there will always be replaced by other family members. I wouldn't count them out; but in a operational point of view they do operate on their own set of rules. Only blood relation/marriages from other clans can be members. The Ndrangheta was successful in establishing cells in many parts of the world and it would be foolish for them to by pass America, a country that has one of the most lucrative market in the world. I believe there are more cells in the US than is known.
