Lentini was very close to Lucchese Family boss Carmine "Gribbs" Tramunti, and Tramunti's partner and go-to guy, Louis "Gigi" Inglese. He also played a steady and relatively important role within their Lucchese-backed "Pleasant Avenue" drug network headquartered in East Harlem that they headed.

He was also a defendant with them in the case that eventually snagged and jailed all of the them. Tramunti fell for 15 years on that one and spent the rest of his days locked up.

This was a very very interesting and important case made against New York's narcotics kingpins.

This truly turned out to be a massive narcotics case, because, although their drug network was headquartered in NYC (East Harlem,) the mob extended their tentacles across a wide swath of other cities and states including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Cleveland, Chicago, etc., suppling multi-kilo quantities of heroin and cocaine to local distributors for many years.

All told, the combined forces of local/state/federal authorities took down 97 suspects, representing at least 3 different NYC crime families.

In additional to Tramunti, Inglese and Lentini, some of the other top mafiosi snagged included such notorious names as Gennaro (Jerry Z) Zanfardino, Martin (Big Jinks) DeSaverio, John (Johnny Echoes) Compopiano, John (Johnny Hooks) Capra, and Anthony (Tony) Loria....to name but a few.

Good stuff, better than the book, which I didn't rate. Probably because of it's incredibly high price ,£300+.

Wasn't that Capra guy around in the Crea days?

Book is on the internet archive site, for those interested.
