Alleged lookout in prison killing of James ‘Whitey’ Bulger leaves court a free man

Sean McKinnon, the accused co-conspirator in the bludgeoning death of Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger, was sentenced to time served on Monday, avoiding any additional prison time.

McKinnon, 38, pled guilty to the lesser charge of lying to a federal officer, with prosecutors dropping the most serious charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Last month, McKinnon, along with convicted mob enforcers Fotios “Freddy” Geas and Paul DeCologero, agreed to plea deals with the federal government. McKinnon remains the first of these three to appear before the U.S. district court in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Originally accused of being a “lookout” for Geas and DeCologero as they entered Bulger’s cell, McKinnon has insisted he had nothing to do with the murder. In interviews with NBC and the Boston Globe, he vehemently denied the charge. Rather than keeping watch for guards, McKinnon claims he had only been watching the morning news on the chow hall television.

Do you guys believe they cut his eyeballs & Tongue out with a shiv before killing him?

If most mobsters would have the balls of DeCologero and Geas,the american mafia would be more feared today.

They used to have many guys like them both as you know.

What's funny is that when they (DeCologero and Geas) were on the street we didn't hear much about them. Most mob insiders didn't even know they existed.

I cant even recall them being placed on any FBI mafia chart.

Why is that?

It just goes to show that there's probably guys out there right now that we don't even know about who are doing some seriously bad shit flying under the radar.

RushStreet for sure in the chart there are only the moneymakers but the families needs people that can kill a man and dont flip if get 20 y or the life.

Rush there are good reasons for us never hearing about them. They were nothing Mafia-wise when they were on the streets. Geas did it because he is and almost lifelong convict who did not want a rat in a cell near him. That is the inmate mentality in many cases. Plus, while I usually not one to go along with conspiracy theories, Bulger was clearly set up. No doubts about it. They stick Bulger in a prison like that, in popultion, and let the other inmates know he is there, Then the guards leave him alone and unguarded. Now they let one killer out,

When I was little, I was under the impression that my dad was never around because he was in the army. I didn't know the truth until I was in 8th grade. But who set up Bulger? Not the mob or his former gang maybe someone in the LE.

Anyone believe McKinnon cooperated? They dropped first degree murder charges?

Of course he cooperated! He stood guard while DeCologero and Geas was killing an old man on wheelchair! He risked life but because was forced by the two,for sure can made a good deal.
