![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/GHqNF7d/milwaukee-1993.png) (Click the photo to zoom in) The family had been inactive for a few years by this time Joe, are you saying that former boss Carlo Caputo, and the few remaining members of his small Madison-based borgata, shut down shop and later formally affiliated with Milwaukee's Balistrieri Family? I cannot say that that wasn't the case, I'm just asking.

Yes, the FBI were identifying them as Milwaukee members after they disbanded

Yes, the FBI were identifying them as Milwaukee members after they disbanded Fair enough. I know it's said that Caputo essentially disbanded the Madison Family's "official" status...easing Caputo and Aiello into retirement. I also remember reading that the few existing members that remained were given a choice to either join Balistrieri in Milwaukee, Joe Zammuto in Rockford, or the Chicago Outfit), if me memory serves me correctly.

Joseph Aiello died in December 1970 and the family only voted to disband sometime in 1973, seemingly because of inactivity I don't know that its members were given a choice to select where they transferred to but either way the FBI were listing Caputo, Cosimo DiSalvo (d. 1988) and James Schiavo (d. 1986) as Milwaukee members by 1993. John Candela is missing but it seems likely he was also formally with Milwaukee

Is Cosimo DeSalvo the same person an Steve DeSalvo or are they related ? Stevie DeSalvo features heavily in the Donnie Brasco book. He is mentioned as the Milwaukee Family's underboss and after meeting him, Lefty Ruggiero told Joe Pistone/Donnie Brasco, he was very impressed by him.

They were not related as far as I know, Cosimo DiSalvo (aka Cosmo) was from the Bagheria comune of Palermo and Steve DiSalvo's family was from the Milazzo comune of Messina. Cosmo was the son of Madison member Benedetto DiSalvo (d. 1964) and was related to Milwaukee members Andrew (uncle) and Benedetto M. DiSalvo (cousin)

Thanks. You seem very knowledgeable about the Milwaukee family. What else you can you tell us about Stevie DiSalvo ? I only know about him from the Donnie Brasco book and he seems to be an interesting player.

JP, If I remember correctly, isn't Benedetto DiSalvo largely credited with having been the founding father of the Madison Family? No idea about stuff that far back, information seems murky about how the family formed in Madison

Author Gavin Schmitt has uploaded a ton of FBI files related to the family on his archive.org profile (https://archive.org/details/@gavin_schmitt), so there is a lot of good info available on them LCN Bios wrote about Steve here: https://lcnbios.blogspot.com/2023/03/steve-disalvo-milwaukee.html
