Outstanding! You outdid yourself with this one, MS.
I knew we were doing a Nuccio video. But I didn't know how you planned to go about it or produce it.
I loved it all. But what I really, really enjoyed was all the unique location shots you took and the old photographs you acquired. I think it really enhanced his story, almost bringing it to life...Bravo!
* The story of New York’s legendary Irish “Arsenal Mob” with its one-of-a-kind hierarchy chart attached, depicting their entire membership. * The “Detroit Partnership” biography about powerhouse soldier Salvatore (Little Sammy) Finazzo. * And now, a fresh deep-dive 30-minute video about the life of soldier Dominick (Little Libby) Nuccio and the Chicago Outfit.
These three brand new releases tell the tale, fellas…
ButtonGuys of The New York Mafia and Mob Fireside Chat is now back in full swing!
So, (as in the past,) from this point forward, you can safely count on Button Guys continually bringing you a steady stream of unique and interesting content.
The Chicago Outfit's FEARED Assassin - Dominick "Little Libby" Nuccio
Sit back, grab a beer or a glass of wine, and enjoy...cuz it's a long one...
As a brand new video, just posted yesterday, this deserves a few bumps.

Dominick Nuccio’s mother, Maria Calata, was born in the little town of Vicari, in Palermo, Sicily.
His father’s background is a bit more vague. Old documents just reflect that he was born in Italy. So, was that Southern Italy, such as the Campania region, Calabria, etc? Or did he also come from Sicily?
From the documents I’ve been able to glean, it doesn’t specify what area, per se.
I may be way off in my perception of the reality, but the question I have is that if the Cosa Nostra was a Sicilian thing, and the worry was unfamiliarity of Southern Italians with the Sicilian way, then how is it that two of the most successful families seem to be the Chicago group and the Genovese? Especially since both seem to have the most non Sicilians, particularly Neapolitans as leaders?

No, I agree and think that your perception is right on point, Havana. But you also have to remember that the amalgamation (the blending) of ALL Italians into one single entity, since referred to as Cosa Nostra, only became a reality with the "ending" of the Castellammarese War. That is when all three major Italian factions, the Neapolitan Camorra, the Calabrian Societa Onorato (precursor to the N'drangheta,) and the Sicilian Mafia came together as one.
Before that time, although some of the individual members of these three organizations liked and worked together, for the most part they were separate and distinct...and often times in conflict with one another.
I think that probably the synergy created by the different guys from different parts of Italy operating in different cities under different circumstance probably was a real benefit to their rise in power. Different areas of expertise to call on that said I think that the Neapolitans or those from Bari might have been more accustomed and expert at the kind of urban rackets of providing customers things the government forbids and that might have been an advantage in the big city vice crimes in America, like bootlegging, gambling, prostitution. Morseo expert in urban rackets that some of the rural Sicilian mafiosi who engaged in maybe something protection to sheep herders or produce farmers. And that probably Sicilians were more adept at running family businesses which of course had a competitive advantage anytime they needed to call on their friends for help.

Those are good points you make, Havana. And I think that in certain circumstances and situations that was probably true. But also keep in mind that the Island of Sicily is not all rural farmlands and small towns, They also have many major urban cities as well such as Palermo, Catania, Messina, Siracusa, etc., and to a lesser degree, cities like Trapani, Marsala, Agrigento, etc.
Yes thats true When I think of pictures, etc I've seen of Sicilian towns like Palermo or Siracusa or in Calabria it strikes me as if they are in Greece or Mideast whereas Naples strikes me as like Sodom and Gomorrah or NYC Of course since I've never been to those places, its just my own impression.

Thats understandable. Although there are some locations in northern Italy that also resemble what you describe. Admittedly, the Mezzogiorno regions of Campania, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily most resemble this dichotomy of both rural and urban.
