@bronx
Tommy Lucchese was boss for 16 years or so? He's no-where near the guys I've mentioned "BUT"... We can say that he was #1/or /2 of the Gagiliano/Lucchese leadership from 1931 till 1967 until he died of cancer. That's 36 years or so.
@NYMafia
So I'm spot on that Barney has been basically the #1/#1B guy of the Genovese family for over 30 years?

Zavattoni, I'm not sure Barney was a top guy, "the" top guy for that long (he may have been,) but he certainly has been at the upper tier of power and one of their leaders for decades already. (I'd have to track his chronology to speak with any certainty.)

I believe Frank Balistrieri was boss of the Milwaukee mob for ~30 years. Lol. Its's funny you mentioned him. You took the words right out of my mouth....I was just contemplating other guys who had a long run and he came to mind. And, no doubt about it, I do believe you're right, Turnbull. Balistrieri had a good long run at the top also.

I agree, somewhat. Vic put in work, no doubt. But so did Casso. But as ballsy as Vic was, he was not a sharp guy. Because if he was, he would never have allowed a guy control him the way Casso did.
Solid soldier, probably a good capo. But Amuso was NOT boss material. No way, no how. IMO, he couldn't carry the jock strap of guys like a Tommy Lucchese or Tony Ducks, etc., if his life depended on it. Vic had no sophistication about him at all. And he didn't understand the "finer" points of more advanced rackets, or even the true fundamentals of Cosa Nostra itself for that matter.
.....and many knowledgable street guys, on the sneak of course, feel the same way.

Francis Colacurcio Sr. in Seattle, Washington.had a good run from the 40s till his death in July 2, 2010 (aged 93). I don't know that much about him, but yes, I think he did earn well for many years. The only thing about Colacurcio is that he was not a mob guy per se, and certainly not a Mafia boss. He was an independent schemer, who just happened to be Italian, who mostly ran prostitution rackets.

According to a recent article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper, Balestrieri graduated from Marquette University and attended their law school. He must have read the Godfather novel: Vito, after learning that Sonny had pulled off a two-bit payroll robbery, tells him, "Don't you want to become a lawyer? A lawyer with his briefcase can steal more than a hundred men with guns."

I believe I read that at least one of his sons was a licensed attorney.

Jack Tocco and I believe Anthony Zerilli were each college grads. Yes, you're right. I completely forgot about those two. There's also probably a few more out there who went to college. But DeSimone was the only one I remembered.

Although its debatable, if, and just how criminally active, the “Carlo Caputo Family” of Cosa Nostra, based in Madison, Wisconsin was throughout the decades of their existence. Nonetheless, its acknowledged leader, boss Carlo Caputo himself, remained that borgata’s recognized “Representante” for almost a half-century.

Kind of off topic; but would Joe Magliocco be the longest serving underboss in LCN history (New York)?
He served as underboss from 1928/1931 to 1962.
That's over 30 years as the underboss of a powerful NYC family.
And then got bumped to "Boss" in 1962.
He's had been at at the #2 spot for over 30 years and boss for 1 year or so.
That's longevity.. and no one can stake his claim....
But Tommy Lucchese served as underboss for Tom Gagliano for 20+ years (depends when Gagliano died).. and then Tommy Lucchese was boss for atlast 15 years before he died of cancer.
Tommy Lucchese had a 35+year reign (give or take) as #1 and #2 of the Gagliano/Lucchese family.. That's unheard of...
Both Joe Magliocco and Tommy Lucchese were at top of their respective family in the #1 or #2 spot for over 30 year's. No one else can say that.
