Not really you had the Adams, Garrisons, Kelly to name a few of the big names were able to keep them out. The Sheltons came back to Peoria on invite. St. Louis did make a move, but that was done by a St. Louis Shelton lieutenant named Frank Wortman. Now the researcher swears that Wortman had the backing of St. Louis and Springfield crime families. It is possible. The actual killer of Carl and Bernie was Charlie Harris who actually did take a trip to Chicago 2 months before the war on the brothers began and was in the company of Johnny Bananas, Joe Legno, and the Lisciandrello brothers. Joe Legno is Tony Pinelli, don't know about Johnny Bananas. Who went with him was Max Appleton a bookie who had beef with Bernie Shelton, Harris was a gunman who worked for Wortman from time to time but also worked for other Shelton lieutenants. Once Carl and Bernie were killed, Earl left in 1951 as there were a number of attempts on his life. The only associate I know of Chicago that lived in the area was Charles Cassano, and he helped manage the bank. It is my understanding that Chicago did not interfere with the locals and Wortman became boss of the area, but they did business with other the Italians when it came to laying off bets and gambling to an extent. I find no more troubles after 1955. Narcotics was becoming in the 1950s onwards, but I find no connection with Peoria and the Italians on that side, doesn't mean there wasn't any, just means I can find no info, nor the guy I talked too.

Thanks guys, first time ive heard links to the Liscandrello Bros, Allegretti and Joe Arnold....i know who Frank Wprtman was and Black Charlie....my family has never been named in books or anything but Peoria has big Lebanese community also it was my uncles on my Lebanese side who were going at with Bernie andhis machines at the time....Bernie put his machines in my uncles bar The Hitching Post...next day they put Bernies machines out at the curb and it was few weeks after that Bernie was shot in my uncles parking lot from the woods....ironically both my uncles were at the cabin up in state of Wyoming when they had to come back be questioned.....all the books claim it was Wortman and Harris also.....Thaks again guys. For what it's worth, from the late 1950's until the mid 1970's Lebanon was one of the Outfit's "stations" around the world, operated by the Outfit's so-called "Combine" that was headed by Giancana and his "international" associates..

Im not sure but I think they had some casinos over there that were controlled by Outfit operatives such as John Drew or Louis Lederer, and they also had international car theft operations since many foreign actors, businessmen and politicians from different countries had a hard on American cars, followed by the prostitution and dope rackets. I dont remember correctly but I think Giancana also had some huge residence over there, including a golf course and also a hunters club. Im talking about Beirut, Lebanon; of course.
One of Giancana's daughters once said that her father allegedly wanted to "takeover the whole world" and in fact, he wasnt far from accomplishing that same goal, but he obviously didnt have enough time and in the end, everything went down the toilet.
