https://apnews.com/article/tropican...s-strip-a2a6e4f57c9ef5a8110602b8b6b2d1e7Sin City will quite literally blow a kiss goodbye to the Tropicana before first light Wednesday in an elaborate implosion that will reduce to rubble the last true mob building on the Las Vegas Strip. The Tropicana’s hotel towers are expected to tumble in 22 seconds at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The celebration will include a fireworks display and drone show. The city hasn’t blown up a Strip casino since 2016, when the final tower of the Riviera was leveled for a convention center expansion. This time, the implosion will clear land for a $1.5 billion baseball stadium for the relocating Oakland Athletics, part of the city’s latest rebrand into a sports hub.

It breaks my heart. Always loved seeing the Tropicana there. It was obviously very old, but it gave the strip a nice nostalgic appearance. I used to go to the Luxor a lot and I'd often drop by the Tropicana whenever I took a stroll I thought it was sad for the Tropicana to be demolished.

I've always wondered with all the history that Vegas has why they have never had leaders who wanted to preserve that history. Can you imagine a city like New York tearing down historical casino hotels if they had them? In Vegas they do not value preserving history. Stardust and so many others before Tropicana.
