Since the holiday is here, I thought about posting few short and "scary" stories from the past so we can speed up the blood flow lol

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During the infamous "Castellammarese War", Felice DeLucia aka Paul Ricca had to do more important jobs within the Capone organization, by being Al Capone's number two guy and also by acting as messenger to the East Coast crime families. The bosses in New York had a nickname for Ricca which was "il Comparello" and during his visits, he was often advised by the old Mafiosi that he should always play a waiting game, stay out of the headlines, and build support quietly, which was all opposite of his boss Capone. Slowly but surely Ricca gained respect and made his presence to be known. For example, there’s a story that once Ricca had an argument in New York with an unknown individual from some of the crime families, and that same individual continuously insulted Ricca by calling him “waiter.” This crazy individual would taunt Ricca by laughingly ordering him to pour him some more wine, and continued calling him “waiter man.” The joke probably came from Ricca’s nickname which was the “Waiter” because of his previous work at the Bella Napoli Café back in Chicago. But soon that same disrespectful individual learned that nobody called Ricca like that in his presence and shortly after, the cops found a nude torso of a body in a suitcase, which was dumped near a train station in NY. The head, arms and legs had been cut off from the torso with a very sharp tool, probably a knife, which was Ricca’s favourite weapon. As additional info, the murder was never pinned on Ricca or any other gangster from the New York area.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Filippo (Philip) Nicoletti and Grazia (Grace) Nicoletti (born Alessi) were natives of Santa Caterina Villarmosa, Sicily and one day they decided to leave their homeland and hard conditions and head to the new land of opportunities, the United States of America. The Nicolettis arrived in Chicago in 1907 and settled in an apartment at 737 Campbell Avenue on Near West Side. While in Chicago, they brought two children to this world. The first one was Philip Jr., born in 1914 and two years later, they brought another child Charles, who was born on December 3, 1916. Charles or Chuckie as he was known, grew in a hard conditions because he lived in impoverished and dysfunctional family. His father, who worked as a teamster, was a heavy drinker and very abusive man. When little Chuckie started attending public school, after classes he was forced to stay on the streets because Philip Sr. abused his family on daily basis. In other words, Chuckie was forced to run away from home because he couldn’t stand the bloody sight of his mother and brother getting beaten on the floor and the daily threats and punches that he received from his own father.

Sadly, in his own little mind, Chuckie Nicoletti saw the daily act of domestic violence and also criminal activities on the streets around him as a "natural thing", and mixed with the old Sicilian mentality, he decided to defend his own honor. Chuckie started hanging around with the local young hoodlums from his neighborhood and learned the way of the streets. When Philip Sr. was at work or getting drunk at some of the local bars, Chuckie was playing target practice with his father’s gun. The young boy allegedly stood in front of a mirror with the gun and imagined himself as the local gangsters that he saw on daily basis. it is quite possible that Chuckie realized that if one day all hell broke loose, he can stop the daily terror with that “beautiful” gun.

On February 25, 1929 at 7:30 pm Philip Sr. came home very drunk and with many abusive thoughts on his mind towards his own family. He started beating his own wife Grace like never before. The poor woman’s screams were heard all around the neighborhood. Young Chuckie came to the kitchen and started punching his father and begged him to stop. That enraged Philip Sr. so much that he took a knife, pointed to his son and threatened to kill him. Chuckie, pursued by his drunken father, ran into the bedroom and took the gun which was in a bureau drawer and pointed it in Philip’s direction. Even with that, Philip Sr. didn’t stop so Chuckie was forced to close his eyes, squeezed the trigger and the gun went off. When he opened his eyes, his father laid on the floor, chocking in his own blood and in matter of seconds he ran away in the corner and stopped moving.

After the shooting someone called the cops from the 23rd precinct and they arrived just to see the 39 year old Philip Sr. lying dead on the floor with his wife crying beside him and Chuckie with the gun in his hand standing in the corner of the room. The cops calmly approached the kid and took the gun from his hand. It was obvious who took the shot so Chuckie was taken to the police office for questioning. Only two days later on February 27, the Cook County Coroner’s Office cleared Charles Nicoletti of his father’s death. Chuckie was exonerated and also commended for protecting his family because he was threatened by his drunk and knife-wielding father who caused Chuckie to do the intentional homicide. From that point on, every youngster in the hood was scared of little Nicoletti because he managed to kill his own blood. After his father’s death, two years later in 1931, Nicoletti dropped out of school in the 8th grade and at the age of 14 went for the "street life" and later played major role in eliminating many "obstacles" for the criminal organization he belonged to, and also became known for his brutal force and also became destined for underworld "royalty".

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Born in 1894, Gus Greenbaum worked as an associate of New York gangster Meyer Lansky and then moved to Al Capone’s Chicago during Prohibition, and later also owned a bookie wire service in Phoenix, which was originally established in 1941 by the Chicago Outfit. Greenbaum was a Phoenix socialite seen at all the society balls, usually in the company of Barry Goldwaters, Harry Rosenzweigs and Kemper Marley, Phoenix millionaire rancher and wholesale liquor dealer. In 1946, according to police sources, Marley took up another line of business, one that brought him into contact with organized crime.

Greenbaum was a wild man who was addicted to heroin, always drunk and when he wasn't high he was running around with women half his age who stole from him, and was deeply in debt from gambling at the tables, losing up to $20,000 a week. Kemper Marley and his associates were previously instructed by the Chicago mob to move Greenbaum out of the Phoenix wire service, and they did so. Sources say that Greenbaum refused at first, but after the murder of his sister-in-law, he changed his mind. Greenbaum was asked by the leaders of the Outfit to take care of their interests in Las Vegas, Nevada; and at first he refused, but after the murder of his sister, Greenbaum instantly agreed.

When Greenbaum entered Las Vegas during the late 1940’s, he was skimming from the split between the New York crime families and Chicago. After realizing about the steal, the Outfit's number two guy Sam Giancana on the orders of his mentor Paul Ricca, allegedly sent for Marshall Caifano, a bloodthirsty and ruthless enforcer. On December 3, 1958, the police found Greenbaum dead in his bed, with his throat cut almost completely which made his head almost falling off. Down the hall, in a different bedroom, they found Greenbaum's wife on the couch with her hand tied behind the back, severe head trauma and also he throat was cut as well. She had been knocked out with a heavy bottle which caved in the right side of her eye. Local lore has it, the hitman or hitmen then ate the steaks that the Greenbaums previously cooked, while looking at their dead bodies.

Cheers

....two more.....

In 1988, Joe Bravieri and Richard Zuniga arrived at the apartment of one drug dealer who in turn worked for them, and began an early morning game of gin rummy with one of their close associates and also Outfit enforcer known as Carmen Sarlo. The thing was that Sarlo’s girlfriend Joanne Gasic was their prime contact to all street dealers and also kept every one of them in line, and so Bravieri and Zuniga wanted for her to be in direct connection with them instead of her boyfriend which was Sarlo. In fact, Bravieri and Zuniga were “cutting off” Sarlo from all of the financial proceedings from the drug trade, and so Sarlo’s refusal developed a heated argument. The biggest problem was that both Bravieri and Zuniga were carrying weapons, such as shotgun and a revolver, and so during the argument, suddenly, Bravieri, who was heavily under the influence of cocaine, picked up his shotgun and fired one shot at Sarlo’s girlfriend Joanne Gasic, as she lay on the couch beside them. The poor girl was killed instantly and after that, Bravieri took another shot at one of Gasic’s female friends, Sandra Ault, who was also present at the scene, but luckily for her, he missed.

Then Sarlo allegedly leaped to Bravieri’s feet crying and demanded to know on what was going on, but Bravieri’s answer was "No, you gotta go, too." And so, Zuniga shot Sarlo in the head with a pistol and Bravieri stabbed him with a knife about 20 times in the back and chest. After the double murder, the killers focused on the alleged dead woman, Miss Ault, who in turn was only pretending face down on the floor. Suddenly, Bravieri used his foot and rolled her over and the terrified woman blinked and opened her eyes. “Are you dead?” Bravieri asked, and the woman answered “No but I won’t talk” and so, Bravieri obviously wasn't buying that statement and instead of reloading his shotgun, he dropped down to the floor and with the help of his knife, he reached under the woman’s blouse and stabbed her in the abdomen. The whole scene was like out of some horror movie, but “miraculously”, Sandra Ault somehow managed to survive, again, since she allegedly received superficial wound, and the moment when Bravieri turned his back at her, the woman quickly jumped up and fled first into the bedroom and then out the back, straight to the next-door neighbor, who in turn quickly called the police.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In 1963, one of Chicago's most corrupt cops and also Outfit associate, Tommy Durso, became quite angry at one Tony Moschiano for not appearing with the drug money from the sale or with the product. Thereafter, Durso called for one of Moschiano's friends Lenny Fiorenzo and advised him that he knew that he, meaning Fiorenzo and Moschiano had been together for the last several days, and that Fiorenzo was in trouble and his life depended on finding Moschiano. This was a classic Outfit move by pushing one of the victim’s friends against his fellow associate. Fiorenzo told Durso that the only place that he knew of, regarding Moschiano’s whereabouts, was his home. After failing to find him there, Durso lost his nerves and drove to a restaurant where they were joined by Durso’s personal enforcer Mike Gargano. This time Fiorenzo was quite scared and was also cornered by Gargano who in turn gave him another chance to think about where Mochiano might’ve been, and if not, he was going to kill him right there on the spot. Suddenly, Fiorenzo told Durso and Gargano another possible place, which was the apartment of one of Moschiano’s girlfriends Lupe Costabile.

The three of them then proceeded to Lupe's rooming house, where they were greeted by Lupe's landlady Nancy Bourne. The gangsters entered through the front door quite violently, with Gargano remaining downstairs while holding a pistol on Fiorenzo head and also a man who roomed in the building, while Durso and Mrs. Bourne went upstairs to Lupe's room. Now, this is the point where you can witness Durso’s most savage moments, possible legacy of his mentor “Mad Sam” DeStefano. When Durso saw that the room was empty, he knocked Mrs. Bourne down, whereupon he drew a pistol and screamed at her to get up. The poor old woman said that she had recently broken her back and couldn't get up, whereupon Durso swore that he would break her back again and would blow her head off if she didn't get up. He then forced Mrs. Bourne downstairs and ordered her to phone Moschiano and when someone answered the call, Durso quickly grabbed the phone from Mrs. Bourne and told whoever was on the other side to have Moschiano on the street within ten minutes or someone was going to get hurt. The person on the other side arranged for them to meet and so Durso sent for Gargano to bring Moschiano.

Strangely, after their arrival, Durso looked very calmed and told Fiorenzo to go and pick up Moschiano and later to stop by at Durso’s suburban home. When the duo arrived at the place, they parked their car in the garage where they were greeted both by Durso and Gargano. During their conversation, Moschiano tried to convince Durso that he still had the money, along with other money from sales of narcotics, which he would’ve deliver to him but the thing was that he, meaning Mosciano wanted another kilo of heroin and that he would make up for the missing money and missing narcotics from the proceeds of the previous sale. Immediately, Durso’s face became completely red and stated that he was not going to fall for that trick and suddenly, fueled by his murderous rage, Durso pulled out a hunting knife and started stabbing Moschiano to death multiple times right there in the garage. With his hands covered in blood, Durso turned to Fiorenzo, who by now was peeing in his pants, and yelled at him "I want you to look at this. This is what happens to stool pigeons and people that short me!"

.....aaaaaaand another one lol.......

Leo Foreman was a Chicago convicted swindler, bondsman and president of the LeFore Insurance company. He was an aggressive monster of a man, six feet, two inches tall and 270 pounds with horrible Outfit connections like Mad Sam DeStefano, Phil Alderisio and Chuck Nicoletti. Foreman’s road to demise began when DeStefano received a minor traffic ticket. Mad Sam instead of paying the fine, foolishly went to trial. Foreman told DeStefano that he will take care of the problem because one of the judges was his friend. So when DeStefano went to the trial he was fined several hundred dollars for contempt even though he was found innocent of the traffic violation. When the decision was read, he went really mad and cursed everyone in the courtroom. But most of his anger was directed at Foreman. That was strike one. Julius Greco, one of Nicoletti’s mob associates, was serving a 15 year sentence in Leavenworth prison. Foreman told Nicoletti that he allegedly was being related to a Minnesota Senator Hubert Humphreys and through his relationship, Foreman was going to obtain a presidential pardon for Greco. So Nicoletti and DeStefano called Foreman for a meeting at DeStefano’s house to make a plan for their next move. But as time passed by Nicoletti realized that Foreman was lying because he was unable to cause Humphreys to take any action. Nicoletti became very mad because of that and started thinking about Foreman’s future in this life.

Shortly after, Foreman made another huge mistake. Joe Stein who was owner of a loan company, loaned money to Foreman but he never saw his money again. Foreman didn’t know that Stein’s partner in his company was Felix Alderisio. After a while, Alderisio walked in Foreman’s office and opened a dispute. In rage Foreman pulled out a gun and pointed it at Alderisio and told him to back off. Alderisio just smiled and told him “We’ll see about that” and walked out of the office. That was strike three. When Nicoletti heard about the bad news he calmly ordered to DeStefano to go and see Foreman and to take care of the problem in “Action Jackson” style (Action Jackson was mobster who received a very gruesome torture and death by the Outfit). As additional problem Foreman owed DeStefano $7,000, so Mad Sam wanted to take his money first before killing him. When DeStefano went to Foreman’s office and confronted him with his evidence, Foreman admitted that he might have made some “arithmetic mistakes.” DeStefano went into a rage and started cursing him. With this Foreman again pulled a gun and kicked DeStefano out of his office. On November 13, 1963 Nicoletti appeared at Foreman’s house and advised him that DeStefano was ready to let bygones be bygones, if Foreman helped fence a diamond theft and paid back his debt. So on November 14, Foreman was lulled into a basement were he was shot in his legs by Mario DeStefano, Chuckie Crimaldi and Tony Spilotro. Foreman was lying on the floor crying in pain and suddenly Mad Sam appeared, dressed in pajamas, and went to work. Before the torture, Mad Sam told Foreman that he was going to be a blood sacrifice to Satan. After being viciously tortured for hours, DeStefano shot Foreman in the head. Foreman’s body was stuffed into the trunk of a car which was found few days later. According to one informant, Foreman's corpse had some type of "smile" in his face and DeStefano allegedly said something like "Look at the bastard he's smiling".
