Do you think this was a hired contract killing? CEO Brian Thompson was terminated... with extreme prejudice. The Suspect is still at large... ![[Linked Image]](https://forums.metallica.com/uploads/default/optimized/4X/c/d/5/cd524746b64167c49c094f9673b939116a3bca35_2_591x750.jpeg)

A suspect named Luigi Mangione arrested in Pensylvannia with a weapon that is allegedly similar to the one used in the killing. NY POST Article26 years old. From a rich family. Has a masters degree. Threw his entire life away. What a shame.

My understanding is that the kid is incredibly bright. Valedictorian of his high school class and got his bachelors and Masters from Penn. He was involved in a bad surfing accident 2-ish years ago, and the surgery went awry and as a result he began to lose his mind. Super unfortunate, as his life as he knows it is over. Even worse, he killed a guy who had a wife and kids at home. I'm no defender of the health care industry in the US, as it is full of greedy, heartless crooks, but killing someone is never the answer. Unfortunate all around, and scary times we live in.

Hit man, inside job, and all the conspiracy theories were as usual wrong. It was a nut. He was from a wealthy family, he went to a high school that charged $40,0000 a year for tuition! As a few said above, he threw his life away. Maybe he gets off on an insanity plea. I don't think he should ever be let out, unless he is so old and sick he is no longer a threat to anyone. How funny would it be if he gets off on an insanity plea and is locked up in the same mental joint as the guy who killed Frankie Cali, both NY cases, so it would be possible, although with all the planning and getaway he put into this, it would be hard to plead insanity.

If every person in the US, about 335,000,000, received $10,000 of free healthcare, that would be $3,350,000,000,000 or $3 Trillion, 350 Billion dollars.
Bump that up to $100,000 per person, then that would be $33 Trillion, 500 Million.

Luigi Nicholas Mangione is the heir to a wealthy and famous Maryland family. The patriarch, Nicholas Mangione, born in Baltimore's Little Italy, passed away in 2008 at the age of 83, leaving behind a real estate empire that included golf clubs and media. His grandfather owned the Turf Valley Resort and Hayfields Country Club, two luxury resorts with a hotel, restaurant, and pool, all surrounded by acres of woods, as well as the radio station WCBM-AM.
Luigi's cousin is politician Nino Mangione, a Republican member of the Maryland House of Delegates. His mother, Kathleen Zannino Mangione, owns a travel agency specializing in Mediterranean travel. The family lives in Towson, Maryland.

The killer gets no support from me, but I feel bad for both his and the healthcare executives families. Mangione had a good family, now people are spreading their pictures around on not only the internet, but even one news outlet showed a group photo of him with his family a few Christmas's ago. He had to be crazy to do this, and I not saying he deserves to get off on an insanity plea. He needs to be locked up. He's dangerous. What is scary is the people supporting him, including a Washington Post columnist who lost her job (I'm not sure if it was before or after her support of him) She is still doing interviews supporting his actions. I agree disturbing that even MSM use it for their own purposes. No matter what his motive is murder is always unacceptable. With a bank loan and about $750,000 of their own money, they bought the Turf Valley Country Club in Howard County, outside Baltimore. "People thought I needed mob money to buy this place," Mr. Mangione once told The Baltimore Sun.
