Money still talks, and I'm sure it still talks in prisons. How was Gotti treated in prison? He had unlimited funds if necessary and arguably the most $$$ available of any mob boss in history at the time. In my opinion he was treated like dog shit, like a fucking low life cocksucker. The feds did everything they could to make his life miserable in prison and there was no need for him to be treated the way he was.

Goodfellas and that dumb scene! It was a prison with dorms, EVERYONE inn the prison lived and could cook like that. Scorsese was being advised by prosecutors who Henry Hill worked under, and they wanted to make it seem like Mafia members were getting special treatment, For those who are still clueless: Every inmate there back then was allowed to cook in thier dorm, all were allowed to have food brought in, and all lived the same way there. To this day that and other prisons like it have inmates living the same way. All--Black, Hispanic, anyone there.
New York prisons have for decades had festivals for each ethinic group, on Caribbean or Black culture day they have that, Hispanics have their days, Italians have theirs, so do the Irish. You have to go back to the 1950's and earlier for times when inmates had very few such privileges. Goodfellas painted a misleading image, making people think only Henry Hill and guys in his dorm lived that way.

I am aware of dorms but normally they put 50-100 guys in the same dormitory.
