Gambino Mob Promotes Danny Fama, Caesar Gurino To Skipper Posts, Pair Under Criminal Investigation
January 31, 2025 — Seasoned Gambino mob figures Danny Fama and Caesar Gurino were recently made capos in the crime family and are currently being investigated by the Queens DA Office and the New York Waterfront Commission for construction-industry racketeering, per Gangland News’ weekly Thursday dispatch. Both Fama and Gurino’s personal residences were raided back in December in the ongoing probe and have links to the old-school John Gotti regime in the Gambino clan.
Back in the 1980s, Gurino, 71, owned the plumbing company (Arc Plumbing) Gotti took his legitimate paycheck from and was pinched in a drug case alongside Gene Gotti, the Dapper Don’s brother. This is the Queens-based Gurino’s second tenure as a skipper, having held the position previously before losing the job and returning to the rank of soldier. Completing a three-decade stay in the feds in the late 2010s, Gene Gotti allegedly holds an advisory position in the Gambino crime family these days.
The 60-year old Fama comes from the Gambinos’ Brooklyn faction and did almost two decades of state time for murder and narcotics trafficking. He was suspected by the feds of being the wheelman in the August 8, 1990 gangland slaying of Gambino mob soldier Edward (Eddie the ch*nk) Garafolo, in front of his Bensonhurst home, but the case never stuck and he’s since been cleared of the charges. Fama came-up in NYC mafia circles around the Sammy (The Bull) Gravano crew. It was the Gravano crew that was tasked with the “Eddie the ch*nk” hit. The Garafolo homicide was the last murder carried out on Gotti’s orders when he was active on the street as a Godfather. Gotti was locked up for good four months later and died in prison of throat cancer in 2002.
