I don't see why mob buffs aren't more interested in other brands of organized crime. Read about the Albanian, Russian, Armenian, and Greek mobs and you don't find not a single rat. They get busted, everyone keeps their mouth shut. With the Italian groups, on the other hand, there's at least 2-5 rats with every bust. With the American Mafia, guys are flipping over gambling charges, so how can they be trusted to stay quiet when murders are involved?

I read Russian news from time to time, and organized crime there is actually full of rats, in most organized crime trials I read about (although it usually isn’t above mid-level gangsters, the biggest ones usually don’t get prosecuted, since the main gangsters are in charge of the country anyway). However, if they get arrested in other countries, there are almost no informants indeed, at least in the last years.
Willie Marfeo to Henry Tameleo:
1) "You people want a loaf of bread and you throw the crumbs back. Well, fuck you. I ain't closing down."
2) "Get out of here, old man. Go tell Raymond to go shit in his hat. We're not giving you anything."
