Have any of you noticed similarities of various scenes from the Godfather and various stories from the bible?
2 Kings 1-12 (David's final instructions to his son Solomon reminds me of the scene where The Don talks to Michael for the last time. David made peace with certain people, but those same people would be a threat to Solomon's rule, so David advised Solomon to take care of them after his death.)
2 Samuel 2:18-23 (The death of a warrior named Asahel reminded me of Sonny's death. If their anger didn't cloud their judgement, they probably would have lived longer. Both were skilled fighters).
2 Samuel 3:22-30 (Revenge in a sweet way)
2 Samuel 20:4-13 (Jealousy and insecurity leads to a suprising yet senseless killing[betrayal])
Judges 3:20-25 ("I have a message from God" then a stabbing of the gut.., The element of suprise, suspense, reminds me of so many murder scenes including Part 3 Where Calo says "I have a message from Michael Corleone")
I could go on and on but one last thing to remember, Just like the Don's had some awesome men (LuciBrasi, Clemenza, Neri, Roco, Genco, Tom, Etc.) David had some awsome men that protected him too (Samuel 23:8-39)

That is very interesting! Well who knows, maybe the movies about a lot of unholiness could have been derived form the good book itself. I haven't noticed this, I am not a very religous person, but who knows The Godfather may just make me a stronger christian.

I agree, those comparisons are very good. I think what separates the GF from other movies is that it tells a classic story with deep, deep characters. This type of depth automatically makes it comparable with other classics like biblical tales, shakespeare and greek mythology. Tales that deal with the core traits of humanity itself.
