I read Lord of the Flies in high school and I read Fight Club a couple of years ago. They're both good books and movies, but if I had to choose just one, I'd go with Fight Club.

Hey...

I read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Its a fantastic book, I really enoyed it, I am going to be doing a paper on it for my Higher English Personal Study, there is so much in it that you can write about.

The book - of mice and men - I haven't read that one but there was one similar that we read in our English class this year called - The Cone Gatherers by Robin Jenkins - It had the same theme running through it, it was also a really good book that I enjoyed, worth a read.

No, and I shall never touch it being sane. It's enough to know what it is about.

I think the way the book is written and the narrating of the movie are quite similar. As far as which one's better, the movie does it more than the book for me. But I'd still read the book if you get a chance

There were things in the movie that were better, like the use of some language. I think I laughed out loud when I read "human butt wipe." Fight Club's writing is definately good but there were parts I didn't like. I liked the movie better, although it's hard to pick between the book's ending and the movie's.

Thanks lol Kermit Rocks!!

Well I watched the film in parts as we read the book and watched the film at the same time in the class. I really liked them both, i'll have to watch the film again sometime soon. The novel and the film are really very similar. The novel gives more insight to some of the characters as usual though. The film is good but the novel is worth a read also.

When reading the novel you kinda of realise that Harper Lee originally set out to write the novel as short stories, so some of the ideas are loosely strung together - makes it a good read to and the whole novel is set in two parts as it shows the children growing up.

I would read it

1984 is an amazing read.Definately check that one out.I read The Outsiders when I was 13, I think, and thought it was an above average book, but nothing to jump through hoops about. Ive been meaning to read Clockwork for awhile now, and its next on my list.

My favorite book from that list (excluding the ones I haven't read yet) is Lord of the Flies. I read it in my 10th grade English class, and I loved it. For a project in my 12th grade English class, I had to read 1984. I'm probably one of the few people I know of who hated it. I found it utterly boring. The writing is good, but the story sucks (IMO).

Catcher in the Rye is a classic, it's the kind of book everyone should read.

I really liked the Outsiders, I had to read it back in jr. high. It's about rival gangs, basically a bunch of boys from opposite sides of the tracks. Very touching story.

Misery is my favorite Stephen King novel, it's a lot like the movie. Very scary!

1984 is excellent, so is Brave New World, both are about the scary futures ahead.

Of Mice and Men is a great book and an easy read. I suggest it. I can't wait until I get to read 1984 next year!

The Catcher in the Rye was great. Probably my favorite book of all time. You'll enjoy it.

Of Mice and Men was a nice easy read. My personal favorite by Steinbeck. If you like this, I recomend the Grapes of Wrath.

The Stand is a guilty pleasure of mine. I cherish both the book and the movie, but I find that nobody else feels the same as I do on the subject. If you like apocalyptic stories with a shit load of diferent characters and protagonists, this is your book.

Starship Troopers was horrible. After seeing the movie when I was in 4th grade, I had to read the book. I thought it sucked. Dont waste your time.

I have read a lot of these books as all English majors must. Stil have to say nothing beats any of the wonders of Thompson and his Gonzo Journalism.

Catcher in the Rye is great too.

What did you think about the movie Of Mice and Men-Starring John Malkovich and Gary Sinise?
How is it compared to the book?
I saw the movie and I think that this double cast is perfect, they are both great actors and they were really born to play those parts.
Is the book also "very emotional" like the movie?

The book is quite sad yes,You get to feel how the charecters are feeling in some parts.I too think that the two of them played a blinding role.

I was actually not impressed with the film, up until the ending. The XCU of George and Lenny's faces, the an immediate cut to a long shot of Goerge standing up......you dont see him get up in the XCU......that quick cut made the movie for me.Wow

you can't buy it yourself and read it if you want to read it so bad?

Plus it would help you on the test/paper if you read it twice because you would have a better understanding of it

Some of the best books in English these days are being written by people who have English as a second language. They include Remains of the Day, Artist in the FLoating World and others by Kazuo Ishuguro; Waiting by Ha Jin and The God of Small Things by a woman from India whose last name is Roy.
