And you liar, teller of tall tales: you trample all the Lord's commandments underfoot, you murder, steal, commit adultery, and afterward break into tears, beat your breast, take down your guitar and turn sin into a song. Shrewd devil, you know very well that God pardons singers no matter what they do, because he can simply die for a song.

"New episodes of the children’s show will see him stuffing his face with fresh fruit and veg instead."Oh yeah, 'cause that's why kids liked cookies, because of the Cookie Monster. Now, fruits and vegetables will quickly replace cookies as the staple "treat" for kids everywhere. Hey, here's a thought! Why don't parents stop buying their kids all that junk food? They should put this influence stuff on adult shows. A kid who's at the Sesame Street age isn't gonna go out and buy his own junk food anyway, it's the parents that buy them. And no matter WHAT the Cookie Monster does, what self-respecting kid is going to tell his mom "No, thanks, I'm really watching my health" when he's offered a cookie? They're targeting the wrong audience with that message. Oh, and you're all absolutely right... TV sucks and it's really gotten out of hand.

We are way to PC for my taste. And not just when it comes to Cookie Monster IMHO, but I won't go there.) My daughters watched CM all the time as kids, and not once did I ever have concerns that their diet may be threatened by his love for cookies, since I controlled thier diet. Too much is placed on PC. Where the hell are the parents? Cookies, candy and ice cream always attract kids and always will, and it's the parents that need to control it not PC tv shows. TIS

Jesus Christ, have we not learned anything in the past 10 years???? What, with the Columbine shootings, murders committed by kids who claim they were influenced by Mortal Kombat and Grand Theft Auto, the parents aren't to blame, ENTERTAINMENT IS!! (I hope the sarcasm is sensed, cuz I'm laying it on pretty thick).
It amazes me, when their kid gets shot at school, or if it's their kids doing the shooting, they automatically drop all responsibility and find someone else to blame. Now, it's taken to a lesser extreme, with the Cookie Monster. I LOVED Sesame Street as a kid, but did the Cookie Monster make me wanna eat cookies? No, I ate cookies because I liked cookies to begin with, not becaue Cookie Monster told me too. Jesus Christ, at 4 years old, I WAS SCARED OF MONSTERS, WHY THE HELL WOULD I LISTEN TO ONE?!?!

If you give a cookie monster a cookie, he's going to ask for a slice of an orange?
Then he's going to put down the cookie and eat the orange?
Cookie monters eat cookies. Otherwise they might eat children. Cookies help to quell the thirst for children blood. Cookies keep children safe at night. Without cookies, the cookie monster will get bored of fruits and veggies and he will move on to sweeter meats.
A kid without a cookie, is a stupid kid. Kids need to learn how to sneak into a kitchen unnoticed and steal cookies, it's a life lesson. The cookie monster was like a General in the War against parents for cookies. He helped lead the children into cookie bliss. With the General's retirement from the War of the Cookie, a replacement will be needed. The cookie MUST be eaten by the mouths of the young.
The Doc
P.S. Sorry if this is rediculous but I felt the need for a rediculous analogy to go with this rediculous story. :p

As far as cookie monster, that's sad. I just don't buy that he is an "outdated roll model" (cringe)To be honest, it's been impossible for me to see Sesame Street as PC ever since that photo came out from before they got good jobs on the show. Who knew? ;-)

One of the worst examples of PC in kids programming I have EVER seen is what they did with the new version of the Charlie Brown Christmas (which I saw aired the year before last). Made me sick to my stomach. I don't know if you've seen it but it is soooo PC ... it's really, *really* awful.
