Murder?
Many ppl seem to think that rape is worse than murder.
In a movie I once saw someone was asking "What could be worse than rape?"
The answer was "Betrayal"

So what is it then- murder? rape? or betrayal....

or something else?

What do you think is the worst crime ?

Betrayal I could see being up there and for most (almost myself) it'd be #1. But for me, I don't think there's any crime worse than rape. Not only the experience but the after effects. Especially when it happens to younger kids. It's just sick, wrong, and worst of all, selfish!

Drugs trade.

Rape or child molestation rank way up on the list, and are also 2 crimes that occur every day, with far less serious repercussions than other serious crimes. Treason is also one of the worst crimes you can commit.

Crimes against children - hands down.

Rape worse than murder? Maybe in the psycological context in some people's minds. But we are talking about which is the worse CRIME?

Many people survive rape. Not sure if a murder victim's family would agree that rape is worse than murder.

I almost agree with that.

Worst crimes? Any violence-related ones. Especially performed on children, seniors, ill people, animals.

I agree 100%. I don't think any kid could ever fully "recover" from abuse (sexual, physical, or even verbal, if the latter is exercised constantly by a parent-figure). True, murder can't be recovered from, but I don't think a young victim of abuse ever fully recovers either. Let's face it, for those of us who believe in a hereafter, some murder victims are actually going to a better place...not that they wanted to go out THAT way, but you know what I mean.

Anyone who touches another persons child is a scumbag and should be burned alive in a public square! Crimes against children are by far the worse.

Rape/molestation is definately the worst crime. I don't know about you but I'd rather be in heaven then have to spend the rest of my life dealing with the psycological issues caused by such a pathedic occurance.

No Plaw, I don't think that. I think that Both are horrible crimes! But I guess being a parent I feel that an attack on a child is just outrageous and unforgivable!

When you really think about what you are saying, murdering the mother of a child is an indirect attack on that child's mind and mental development!

A crime against a child is hands down the worst crime anyone can commit. To take the innocence away from a child in such a disgusting way is disgusting. I would rather die then to live with the knowledge that something like that happened to my kid. It wouldnt matter much anyway because I would be on death row for killing the scumbag for doing what he did.

Why is raping a six year old considered worse than raping an 80 year old? Is the 80 year old considered less important? Will it affect them less because they've been through life?

Saying "crimes against kids" is as silly as saying "crimes against black people." Why should we single out a child as being more important or less punishable than a teen, adult or pensioner?

Murder by prolonged torture, probably. Jamie Bulger case springs to mind. And I'm not being particular about ages.

In my mind a child of six years is so innocent in the way they are they do not know the horrors of this world like u and I do. Sure Rape of anyone is disgusting but when I hear of a child getting molested it just makes me insane. maybe because Iam a parent, I dont know. But I look at my child and see her playing with her toys and being so in awe of life. To think that someone is doing something so disgusting to her and her not being able to defend herself makes me sick. like I said I do agree with you that rape at any age is horrible and like I said it's just the father in me coming out.

The worst crime in the world is myself not being rich, powerful, and long living. Sure murder and child molesting is wrong, but so is being middle class and not having much say in how the world is run. It is disgusting that I am not the most important figure on this planet, and this crime should not go unpunished. Are there crimes like rape, murder, molestation, backstabbing, armed robbery, and other such acts that are bad and deserve action taken against the people who take part? Yes there is.

But is there a worst crime than me not being a golden god(other than in my own mind)? Absolutely not.

Funny when I initially wrote this, I wasn't even taking murder into consideration. I thought murder was a no-brainer as worst. I was focusing on the other things mentioned in the first post - treason and betrayal :rolleyes: and figured that crimes against children were worse than either of those choices.

My third paragraph should make it clear where I stand regarding rape of ANY kind as compared to murder.

And we must not generalize victims. I still do alot of work as a victim's advocate for domestic violence and I could tell you all some stories about child abuse, various rapes and tortures of children AND adults that would make your hair curl.

And why is the rape of a 6 year old more horrific than the rape of an 80 year old? I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I tend to think of the intrusion on the physical aspects of a 6 year old girl (or boy) and her/his yet to be (or under-)developed body.

You did not ask that question you asked rape of a child or murder of the childs mom. Like I said before any crime against a child is disgusting. So to answer your new question the murder of the child is worse.

So I assume, then, in answer to the original question, that you think that murder is the "Worst Crime".

No, I disagree emphatically with life expectancies and whatnot. I don't care if an 80 year old is going to die in 5 years time. If anything, that means that she has less time to recover from it, and will therefore die more unhappily than the 6 year old, who will only remember the rape in snippets.

Why should we even take things into consideration to decide who deserves to be raped least? To me, rape is rape. I feel uncomfortable deciding between two people because of age.

Okay, so a 6 year old's body is underdeveloped. An 80 year old's is just as frail.

If anything, this thread has conjured up some lasting images in my mind, which I'd rather not have.

Murder of anyone is horrible. Yes it is the worst crime. No coming back from that one. But talking about the rape of children is a tough subject to talk about. I would rather not anymore. Good talk though!

I said "considered horrific". I said nothing about who DESERVED to be raped least.

I have counseled rape victims of all kinds...women, children and yes, even men. Let me go on record saying that NOONE deserves to raped at all - let alone "least"...

I DO agree with you in that I DISAGREE with plaw's view on this. Life expectancies of people never crossed my mind.
