82 WPM, but I made the mistake of backspacing to correct an error and it counted every word after that wrong. Before that, there were no errors. I'll take it again later, though.

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

40 WPM, 2 errors.

I remember when I was in college (this is almost 40 years ago, remember) they made all freshman take a typing class, which you could be exempt from if you passed a proficiency test.

I never learned to touch type, but I had typed a fair amount up until then, and having no desire to take the class, I took the test to be exempt.

I don't remember how they scored it, but I remember having more than 40 WPM with maybe two or three mistakes, and I passed.

I remember the teacher being really pissed off that he had to exempt me from the class when i didn't know how to touch type.

Also, there was a piece in one of Irving Wallace's People's Almanacs about how the keyboard we used is referred to as a "QWERTY" keyboard, because of the sequence of letters on the top row.

Someone once developed a keyboard based on the frequency of the appearance of letters in the English language being those on the so-called "home keys", and gave it to some professional typists to use.

After considerable practice, they increased their speed tremendously - I forget the exact numbers, but it was like a 30-40% increase in speed - but for some odd reason, the new keyboard never caught on.

Typing was the absolute most useful class I ever took in 4 years of high school. It should be required of everyone (if they don't pass a proficiency test), especially in these days of computing...

I can type w/ all 10 fingers, w/o looking at the keyboard, and can (or at least one time could) type the letters A thru Z in order w/o looking. I still make typos, though, because sometimes my fingers go faster than my brain can keep up - so I type a lot of homonyms (shaddap, DMC! :p ) -- or, sometimes I simply cannot spell.
