It might not be, I still don't understand and know why Alcohol isn't illegal, but some plant grown from the ground is illegal.

Good point, I suppose, Vito. They say alcohol and pot have basically the same effects, only marijuana allows a slight bit of more self-control... The legality behind it all is strangely worked out. I would imagine it is only illegal because some regard it as the "gate-way" drug, but many users of the drug will be able to honestly tell you it has prevented them from moving onto more harmful drugs.

I find that Marijuana is a much more safe, controlled, and dignified drug than alcohol. I think that marijuana should most definetly be legalized but with several restrictions and regulations.

And as far as it being the gateway drug, why dont you take a look at Amsterdam? Marijuana and shrooms are legal, yet they have the tightest laws against stronger drugs such as Cocaine, Heroin, and LSD. The result? They have one of the lowest drug addict ratios in the world.

I gotta disagree. I read a similar article on FOX News' site last week. As much as I love getting high, I still don't enjoy it as much as my friends cause I do believe it damages your brain. I rolled up 3 joints today out of the stuff I have left and I'm done for awhile after I smoke them in the next week or so.

I was listening to my Cypress Hill's Black Sunday album when I saw this thread and it has this interesting quote on its backcover:

I think this is the bottomline, no one dies from marijuana. it shouldn't be illegal because SOME of its users do stupid things when they're high. of course, if you smoke too much, it will be bad, just like too much chocolate would be bad too.

Cigarettes are the only things I smoke...I've tried weed twice and hated it both times. I don't really drink much either.

Coffee and Cigarettes are my things.

I'm 16, and I started smoking about a year ago. I smoke about 3-4 Marlboro Menthols a day.

On a more serious note...

I honestly feel more focussed and at attention when I am stoned. I have what is called ADHD, and I find it alot easier to be productive in my school work and other things. It is a lot easier for me to think clearly and solve problems. I also feel more comfortable in social situations and I feel like I am more at balance as a person.

Most people I know that smoke marijuana recieve opposite effects when they smoke, so I realize that maybe I am a minority. Either way, I feel like marijuana is a good drug, and for me personally, the benefits far out weigh the detriments.

That's interesting. It would probably help me with my situation in that case.

I've never smoked weed. I talked about this before. I've had a lot of friends who tried it and it just ate up all their money and time. How about that for a reprocussion? They became obsessed with it and whoops! there goes all their money. It's sad to see someone become a victim of a drug.

Although I must say I've been smoking cigars and Lucky Strikes a lot. So I'm no better, but I don't want to get mentally addicted to weed because I know I will probably like it.

P.S. People die from weed smoking all the time. Smoking anything is bad for your lungs, WEED EVEN MORE SO, and leads to cancer. Weed, smoked out of a joint, is more toxic in your lungs than tobacco. Also, weed damage to your lungs is harder to reverse than tobacco damage because weed has other tars more harmful than tobacco smoke.

Weed might be considered harmless physically, other than it's addicting mental effects, if it is eaten. Like in a brownie. Then it does not have a damaging physical effect on the body.
