I've heard Scorsese mention in a past interview that Frank Vincent and Joe Pesci used to be a comedy team. Anyone old enough to remember them and willing to share some memories? Based on their rapport in Raging Bull, Goodfellas, and Casino, I'd be dying to see these two doing bits.

I've ben a big fan of both of them since Vincent's role in Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing and Pseci's in Raging Bull, but didn't know until fairly recently that not only were they a comedy team doing the Jersey circuit back in the 1970's, but that they also played together in a rock band, backing up a few fairly successful acts, the names of which escape me at the moment.

I had the "pleasure" of meeting Frank Vincent back in June of 2002 at an NBA finals game between the NJ Nets and the San Antonio Spurs, and had the opportunity to chat with him for two minutes or so.

Well, OK - we didn't really "chat", it was more like me be an annoying pest for two minutes and probably managing to insult him in the process when, in trying to explain to him what a big fan of his I am, told him that I "was probably the only person in the whole building (filled with 20,000 people at the time) who recognized him and knew who he was."

Anyway, there's a DVD floating around that some of the larger stores have, called "Mafia Greatest Hits", which has 4 really low budget crappy movies on it for about $5, but worth it since one of them is "Family Enforcer", which I think was made in the mid 1970's and features Vincent and Pesci looking kinda like they did in the pictures you posted.

One of my favorite stories of all time. Seriously.

You also had the pleasure, as I recall, of discovering that Vincent is an expert in identifying people's ethnic backgrounds.
I read somewhere that Pesci used to play guitar with a (briefly) famous Twist band of the Sixties called Joey Dee and the Starlighters. I also heard that he was working as a headwaiter in a restaurant when Scorsese recruited him for "Raging Bull."
