Pretty f'n ridiculous, if you ask me.
The song has nothing whatsoever to do with the song writer's subsequent (alleged) actions...!!
It's bullshit, and the NFL are cowering asses!
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

It's bullshit, and the NFL are cowering asses! Well I agree with Geoff. Many times in this country, we base work upon the character of the creator. This is no exception. For some reason, the song played in those stadiums changes because of the conviction held by that man, the creator. The song is still the same, and so is the writer. He's the same man who wrote that song, and that's the same song which NFL stadiums have been playing for ages. What's the difference, suddenly he gets pinned with a crime in Vietnam. Now those weak enough to feel it, don't hear a "duh duh duh duh duh duh duh HEY!", instead, they feel resentment towards an innocent song due to the not-so-innocent man who wrote it several years prior. Rape overseas, or at least molestation, is quite common. With rape on the rise in Africa, the count of South African children being raped each day in 2002 was about 60 (and it's only increased since then). Multiply what that man did by about 2200 and you get what happens annually in South Africa. Could you imagine how those same numbers would add up in the United States? We place our high moral fabric above all others, and yet, when it comes to Africa, they're only statistics? I would consider myself to be prouder American if these figures upsetted fellow citizens more than a song being played in a stadium. It's time for people to take a stand on such an important issue.

Really, I went to Atlanta Falcons football games, well one per season, for the last 5 years, and you know what recent song of that time span has become a popular song choice at the Georgia Dome? Eminem's "Lose Yourself" Not that I ever cared for the guy, but now I actually expect to hear at the games. Weird, but interesting. Besides DJ, I'm sure the Yankees can stop with that famous routine of theirs with the different versions of "New York, New York" based on wins and loses.
