Interesting thing is that I was planning on reviving an old thread with such a topic...

I have recently read "The Fortunate Pilgrim" and was stunned. It's not a Mafia/Gangster book, but it ranks up with my favourite of all time (not only of Puzo)

Anyway, here is the list of Puzo Novels (those I've read*) in order of preference (after the introduction of The Fortunate Pilgrim:

1] The Godfather
2] The Fortunate Pilgrim
3] The Sicilian
4] The Last Don
5] Omerta

*I'm yet to read The Dark Arena and The Family...But having some idea about the topic of The Dark Arena, I don't think I'll like it...I also have to buy The Fourth K...

I've yet to read The Fourth K and the Sicilian and I just started the Dark Arena.
The Family isn't going to be published in Australia at all which I'm not happy about. So if the guy who posted an answer to my Family in Australia question reads this thread, there's some bad news for you. I really really hope I got the wrong information though.

Obviously, the Godfather is the best. I also enjoyed Omerta, the Last Don, the Sicilian, and the Fourth K. 4th K was not a mob book, but I found it very enjoyable anyway. I didn't really like Fortunate Pilgram as much, but I guess you don't have to like all his books. I'm a huge Tom Clancy, Patricia Cornwell, and Jack Higgins fan and I don't always like ALL of their books either.

I haven't read The Godfather and The Last Don novel yet. See, the thing with me is that it's hard for me to read the book after i've already seen the movie because i already know what's going to happen. Other than that, i plan on reading The GF and The Last Don novels anyway because those two ranked in almost all your lists.
