Barry Pepper- Aspanu Pisciotta Danny Devito- Hector Adonis Dennis Hopper- Stefan Andoilini Andrew Davolio- Turi Guilliano Paul Sorvino- Don Croce
i think this would be a perfect film for Brian DePalma to rejuvunate his career, cuz Femme Fatal isnt gunna do it.
The scene I would most like to see in it is obvious, the scene were the guard tries to shoot Turi during the first jailbreak, only to have his one faulty bullet show up, good tuff

1.Who would you cast? I also agree with some of Zasa's choices. Lillo Brancato - Aspanu Pisciotta Danny Devito - Hector Adonis [not sure] - Stefan Andoilini John Milano - Turi Guilliano Paul Sorvino - Don Croce 2.Who would direct it? i suggest the italian director Guiseppe Tornatore[Cinema Paradiso, Malena, etc.], I think he'd do a great job with it, and it'd be a great way to introduce him to Americans. 3.What scene would you definetly want to see in the screene? there's so many great scenes.. it'd be hard to say. I picked Lillo Brancato for Aspanu Pisciotta because I think he'd be perfect for the role. I picked John Milano for the role of Turi Guilliano because he'd be perfect for the role. John Milano isn't by far a known actor, but has done some independent stuff here and around New York, and is a great actor, and I saw a short play he was in in NYC, he played a young Italian and he was fantastic, so while I was reading the book I saw him as Guiliano. Here's a photo of him: http://www.geocities.com/connections901/john_movie.jpg I'd think he'd be the new Al Pacino... like how Al Pacino was a unknown and not wanted by Paramount to play Michael Corleone, but he become a huge icon after that movie. any thoughts? -ST

Anybody want to go on looks alone?
How about Ben Affleck as Turi and as Aspinu, the actor who played Richie Valens' brother in La Bamba. If you've seen pictures of these guys (e.g. in The King of the Mountain ), you'll see the resemblance.
Just when I get out, they pull me back in.

I don't think I would like to see Ben Affleck as Turi, his face, perhaps unfairly, annoys me, and i don't think he would fit the role. I'v said this before, and some people might think I'm being stupid, but I think that Brad Pitt could pull it off, if they made him look more italian (like they did with Brando in GF). We've already seen with films like snatch and Fight club that he is a very good actor.
I also like the idea of Johnny Depp as Pisciotta, though I thought that John Turturro did do a good job in the original.
Paul Sorvino is a great idea for Don Croce.
I'm not sure about Danny De Vito as Adonis, i'v always thought that Adonis would have have more of a Bob Hoskins look.

I just checked out some pictures of the guy from Hannibal, and if we're talking about the sam person, his name is Giancarlo Giannini, and u r right, he does look the part, though obviously he'd need less hair.

As for which scenes i'd like to see, there are a few which are definates, but i'd need to check back in the book for others. I think there were quite a few things in the book which should be in the film; The killing of the barber, the execution of all the mafia heads, the bit where stefan andloini is sent to kill turi and his two assasins are killed. I can't think of any others for now, but will come up with some more.

Exactly the point I was just about to make. The fact that the first film of the sicilian was poor was very little to do with the nationality of the actors, as you say Turi, just look at Marlon Brando and James Caan. Where they not hugely part of the Godfathers success.

Originally posted by SicilianTarantella: you guys aren't italian, aren't you.. No, but it's acting and it's what good actors do. Al Pacino in Scarface, Jonny Depp in Donnie Brasco, Brando in The Godfather. The list is endless. SicilianTarantella you say that Italians should play Italian roles then say "How do you thin the Godfather came out so good?" Well I mentioned two big names in that film that weren't remotely Italian. It came out so good because it was well scripted and acted. Acting being a key part of films. Thanks for the backing Angel.
