Many mobster movies are about how people are forced to testify against their own side: GFII, The Insider, Wiseguy, Underboss, etc.
"It is no secret that organized crime in America takes in over forty billion dollars a year. This is quite a profitable sum, especially when one considers that the Mafia spends very little for office supplies." -Woody Allen
"I'm going to blame some of the people in this room. And that, I do not forgive."
-Don Vito Corleone

well, a surefire way to get info on the mafia is through informants, yes? and then the Dons of "real life" stories (ex: Peter Maas) find ya out and write your story. And then Hollywood comes in and makes a movie out of it.
"Bacio tua mano."
"But...it was so artistically done."
