I am in the midst of watching this movie and I must say it has held my attention so far. I was wondering who else has seen this film and what they think of it?

Well, in a nutshell it is a 4 hour saga about the Luchiano crime family in Sicily. But, I'll go into a little more detail.
At the beginning of the movie, the Don's son(Michael interestingly enough)is killed by one of his rivals. Don Luchiano and his other 3 sons then swear revenge on the man not matter what. About 10 years later, the Don and his sons are all murdered, nevering getting their vengeance on Michael's killer. So Don Luchiano's widow and daughters-in-law now make the pact that they will get revenge on the killer of Michael and the other Luchianos who had been killed.
Thats all I can tell you. I hope I haven't given away too much already. It's not one of the greatest movies ever made, I'll admit, but its worth checking out if you have some time on your hands. I'd rate it 2 stars out of 4.

Is this movie available at most Blockbuster stores?

Was it based on the Lynda LaPlante novel? I saw it at the library today and wondered if it was the same story.

I absolutley loved this book! I first saw the mini-series on TV and immediatly wanted to read the book, which is pretty long and starts much further back than the mini-series. It actually is a bit different too. It took me a few goes to read it as I was about 14 (I'm 16 now)when I attempted a huge hardcover copy! But it was the Bella Mafia, by Lynda LaPlante, that got me into all these mob books. However I must admitt I have only read The Godfather of Mario Puzo's and haven't seen the movie. But don't worry, I plan to see/read them all soon! At the moment my Bella Mafia copy is on loan to my friend who likes The Godfather etc. and now his brother is reading it. I think it is a great book, although I can't remember mcuh of the mini-series... I only saw it that once.

I thought the movie was okay. I mean, if they worked on it a little harder, then i thought it could've been better. But the thought of women being head of the family was cool I've never read the book for Bella Mafia, and i hear it's good. So maybe i'll pick it up sometime. Usually, when i see a movie before the book i never seem to want to read the book. I guess it's because i already know whats going to happen. But life's full of surprises!
