In the movie Goddfellas, when Tommy goes to become a made man, he gets whacked. Why does'nt Jimmy get whacked too. He was involved with the same things Tommy was.

For all his faults Jimmy was a good earner.
Lufthansa is case in point. I expect Jimmy kicked up quite a bit of money to Paulie.

Tommy's fate should have served as a WARNING to Jimmy (and Henry for that matter) that if a Sicilian was dispensable then no one would hesitate about knocking off a couple of Irish guys.

Better to dispose of 1 guy and use it as a warning then dispose of more good earners than you need to. It should have been enough to bring Jimmy into line, Paulie didn't yet know that Jimmy had helped Henry with the drug deals.

Also remember that Jimmy and Henry could never be made - so would never have become decisionmakers.
Tommy could have been promoted, but was less dangerous dead.

"It was payback for Billy Bats and a lot of other things, it was among the Italians, real (excuse me) greaseball sh--." Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) in "Goodfellas"

Remember, he'd tried to kill Billy Bats (with the help of Jimmy and Henry) in a bar during a fit of fury but he ended up still alive and he had to kill him in the car? Bats was a made member and Tommy wasn't and he didn't get the okay ahead of time to do it. They had to make an example of him.

"Even the King of Italy didn't dare to meddle with the relationship of a husband and wife."

I'd always believed he got whacked for killing Billy Batts. Batts was a made guy and couldnt be killed without the say-so from higher up. This never happened.
