MC 14 I remember the series and I liked it very much, although it's been ages since they've aired it here. Are they showing it there?? I enjoyed the stories and I know many characters like Capone, Frank Nitti were based on the real life characters. I don't know if every story was a "true" story or not. TB would know for sure. After not seeing it so long, I assume it would seem really dated, and yet I find with stories that are from a certain era (like GF or westerns)they don't seem quite as dated as those taking place in "modern" times. The show also is narrated and I'm guessing that will date it. However, all and all I think it's worth checking out and you can decide for yourself. I wish they'd show the series here as I'd love to see it again. TIS

It was pretty good. One of the most popular TV series of its time. Robert Stack was great as Elliot Ness, probably Stack's signature role.

Well, it's not showing here, I really liked the movie, and I knew it was based on the serie. I looked on IMDB, but it doesn't say anything about it being avaible on VHS, but Amazon does. It costs $19.95, but it can't include all episodes, according IMDB 118 episodes were broadcast, and were 60 minutes long.

MC14, It doesn't sound like that would be all the episodes. I didn't realize it was on VHS. Perhaps you can rent it as well?? Anyone remember the very distinct theme song??? TIS

Originally posted by Turnbull: Lots of good actors, too: Nevil Brand as Capone, Bruce Gordon as Frank Nitti, narration by the one and only Walter Winchell. Also, Nehemiah Persoff (as Jake Guzik), Lloyd Nolan (as Bugsy Moran), Clu Gulager (who remembers him? as Mad Dog Coll), and Peter Falk (as Nate Selko?). And Jerry Paris (Millie Halper's husband, Jerry the dentist, from The Dick Van Dyke Show) as one of Nesses agents, Martin Flaherty. The show went from being rated by Nielson #43 in its first season (1959), to #8 in its second. But it dropped back to #41 in 1961-62, "faced with the decidedly less violent competition of Sing Along With Mitch" (From The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network TV Shows, Ballantine Books, 1988)
