With all the hoopla about the Scarface: 20th Anniversary coming out in September (hopefully) I was wondering if there is any news on a Goodfellas rerelease. The one I have is pretty crappy, as its one of those flipper discs and its pretty scarce when it comes to extras. If they did release it again I would love to see an audio commentary track from Scorsese or even Henry Hill since he's done everything anyway. Anyway, has there been any news on it coming out again, bigger and better?

There have been alot of rumors about the new goodfellas dvd. Its not officially announced yet but I think it is in production. Not long ago, I heard the Henry Hill was on Howard Stern and he was sayin how he did the audio commentary with Martin Scorsese. I read that somewhere so I dont know if its true. Its very likely that Henry Hill would have alot to do with the rerelease since like you said hes done everything else. Hopefully they will announce it soon, I cant take much more of the Goodfellas dvd now. I also want to see a casino special edition released.

I saw Henry at a charity event and he claimed he was also working on a sequel. Of course you have to consider the other 9 billion things Henry has said he was going to do and hasn't. But I digress,... a sequel? about him? doing what? writing cook books?

The new edition of Goodfellas will supposedly come out in November this year.

I'm very surprised that a two disc special edition of Goodfellas hasn't already come out. If a definite release date can be confirmed, this would be excellent news! A feature length commentary from De Niro, Liotta, Bracco and Scorsese (and even Sorvino)? How great would that be!

Charmed. I'm just waiting to hear a commentary by Henry Hill. How many films have a commentary by a gangster??!

Great! I just bought the current DVD with its bad transfer, little extras and all. I heard rumors about this special edition DVD so long, I thought it wouldn't happen.

The current Goodfellas DVD is by Warner Bros. which supposedly produced the first DVDs to ever come out, therefore with Goodfellas' incredible age, I think it's in dyer need of a special edition. A commentarry by Hill would be great along with Pilleggi.

Actually, even despite the rumours of a new edition, I was considering getting the old edition for $24 australian dollars at my local video shop (that's about $16 to a Yank). The real problem is that it's a flipper, and also non-anamorphic, which would be serious flaws.

The Goodfellas SE will be released sometime in August, according to the latest news.

The Scorsese Box Set which this DVD is supposed to be a part of was slated for a Spring 03 release, but it has been delayed...looks like early next year.
