Has anyone here ever seen the Britsh film Elizabeth? I saw it for the first time last night and thought it was amazing. It doesn't seem to have much to do with the Godfather message board, but if you watch it, you may notice that it has many themes in common with the Godfather, and is historically almost entirely true real life. It's a film of deciet, lies, treachery and vengeance. If you like the Godfather and are at all interested in British history, I'd highly recommend this film.

really? That is so strange because my mom wanted me to rent it and I was kinda interested but I was afraid it'd be a waste of time. So, I'm going to take your word on it and watch the movie. Cate Blanchett right? Yeah that's the one. If your history isn't that good it may be worth watching again as, like the Godfather, it can be hard to recognise the names of the conspiritors etc if you don't know who they are. Really good film though, definately worth hiring. I'm gonna buy it this week :-)

Yes, entirely the wrong forum, but a great film nonetheless. It does tend to stay reasonably accurate, and it was the first film in which I saw the underrated Christopher Eccleston. Nice little cameo by Eric Cantona too. Mick

i really enjoyed watching elizabeth, which i think sadly was for less popular than shakespeare in love. elizabeth is definetely worth seeing, but will be appreciated more by those with a passion for history.

I hated Elizebeth. I thought it was completely over-sesationalised and full of cartoon-like villians. The prais I have heard given to it makes me think that maybe one day I will summon the courage to watch it again.
Shekar Kapoor is sheduled to direct Morgan Freeman in a biopic of Nelson Mandela. If it's anything like Elizebeth, I wouldn't be supprised to see Mandela compared to Babar the elephant.
